squirrel~ The space under my stairs is the area straight ahead when you walk into the room. Is that the area you were also referring to? It did actually have an opening to that area that drywallers trimmed out. I had them cover it up, as it really looked awful. It was a huge eyesore to walk in the room and see it next to the toilet area. :o( It was meant to be a doorway for access to the heating vent. Well, let's hope that heating vent never has to come out, because it's now walled into that space. WE'll have to tear out drywall to access that now. LOL! I am fairly minimal in my decor. I like a few giant candle holders/candles. A few gorgeous small photo frames, a great iron knick-knack of some kind. That's about it. A few paintings on the wall, or in this house hoping to find tapestries. So for me, the shelving/display space does not have to be a great amount. I guess the real reason I wanted countertop space was I wanted to use "guest napkins" with our monogram on them in that powder room. One of our good friends' used to use those for their parties, and I always liked the idea. Couldn't wait to have a "powder room" to use those in! I've found so many great "guest napkins" on sites, and really want to utilize them in my new space. So... I've got to figure out a little shelf or something handy to hold those towels should I go with a tiny iron vanity like those I pictured. Do you have any ideas where I would find a nice glass shelf that could hold those little rectangular guest napkins? You all do know what I'm referring to, correct? I could google glass shelf maybe? Anyone care to point me in a specific direction? :o)

I would look for a showroom near you that sells Cole & Co vanity bath collection if you are looking for something unique and you can afford to spend more. One of our showrooms also sells vanities by Strasser Woodenworks. They would be good if you want a well-built and traditional-looking vanity, but want to custom order it to get just the right combination of drawers and doors. Ronbow makes a variety of modern-looking vanities that are not too expensive. You can probably see their entire lines online before you go to the store. Look for a bigger Kitchen and Bath showroom that sells plumbing and lighting, sinks and bathtubs, faucets and shower fixtures. We have two or three local businesses like that here, plus Ferguson's who just opened recently. If you can't find this near you, look in an affluent suburb. You will not see a huge selection of vanities by the different manufacturers, but you will see a few, and that will allow you to see the way they are made. Look inside, look at the drawers, backs and floors of the cabinet storage areas. Look at the finish and the drawer pulls. Talk to the salepeople and show them the models that you liked online. See what price they will give you on them and ask about delivery and shipping costs. You might also want to ask if you are obliged to purchase the item, or if you can view it in the store when it arrives and decide at that time if it is what you want. I know for at least one of the stores like this that I have used, special orders like this are yours and are not returnable unless you pay a huge restocking fee

Check Ikea they had some that were not deep. I made my own sink base at 16” and put a 12” round vessel sink on top but it’s a powder room so it’s enough for in there.

Ok. Well, the existing cabinet is VERY traditional and dated so since you are ready to make other changes, I would seriously consider a simple line cabinet for sink. Especially if you might replace faucets. Alternatively, if you can do a DIY on the existing cabinet you could look at ALL-IN-ONE paint and select Moroccan colors and paint the existing cabinet! Maybe do a dark blue then go over raised decorative parts with a champagne gold rub n buff. Then get Moroccan hanging lights for over mirror. Just depends on how far you want to take it.
