Painting Gas Burner Grates & Under Cabinet Range Hood
Comments (4)Several years back a friend painted the burner grates of his commercial stove using high heat spray paint. If not Rustoleum, then similar. They look as good today as the day he did them, but unfortunately that's not saying much. I think if you spend considerable time on prepping - grinding/smoothing any rust, pitting, etc. and getting a nice even surface you might be ok. Assuming they're not a shiny porcelain now - that I don't think would work....See MoreCapital Culinarian Range Top Grate Pictures (Loose Grates)
Comments (34)Not a casting issue. The same grates are fine in other positions and other grates that were fine, in other positions wobble if put in the wobble location. Mine has the diagonal wobble on 2 grates. The wobble occurs from the back left of the grate to the font right. This is on the back left and back right positions. Seeing what I read above, this seems to happne at least on two grates for those affected but the positions on the rangetop are not the same. When I go home I will try flipping around the grate supports and see if the position changes. Mine is being hooked up today. I also called capitol for the new trays and supports, since I can see I have the grate spacing/movement issue. I can see the grate hole wouldn't remain centered over the burner without them....See MoreGas fireplace or gas stove in basement
Comments (6)Yeah, a wall thermostat can cycle it on/off just like your furnace. Also, wireless remotes are available too. I think the style of some stove lends itself very well to the rustic look. Some stonework behind it would look great. You may want to visit a fireplace shop to see many stoves or fireplaces in operation. That helped me make my decision. Also, when choosing a spot for your stove or fp, keep in mind the exhaust vent can't be near any windows, doors or intake vents. There are specific code requirements. The fp shop can give you more details on that too. enjoy! -jasper...See MoreMiele dishwasher owners: can you load your stove grates?
Comments (3)Gee, I agree with Live_Wire_Oak. I have uncoated cast iron grates, and it has never even occurred to me to put them in the DW. I either just wipe them with a paper towel, or if dirtier, scrub them with one of those green scrubby sponges, then thoroughly wipe dry. Takes, oh, five minutes (30" gas range). Sorry I'm not really answering your question, but there are so many other things that would drive my DW purchase, that the grates' fit would not even be on my list. I would be more concerned with capacity for dishes and glasses, cleaning ability, drying ability (don't overlook drying ability), reliability, whether I want a disposal or not, whether I want a cutlery tray or not, and of course, price....See Morefredric
