I did about the opposite of kjo_tx! I did polished nickel cup pulls and knobs and stainless/brushed nickel for my faucet, soap dispenser and water faucet. I like the warmer look of nickel but my chosen hardware in the brushed looked kind of lifeless to me and seemed to blend into my stainless appliances a bit too much for me. I did choose big cup pulls though so that also contributed. Kjo makes a good point with fingerprints. I find that to be an annoying feature of my pulls but I couldn't help myself and wanted some bling. Wiping them off isn't that big of a deal but my previous brushed hardware required no maintenance. I didn't choose a polished faucet because I was concerned about water spots and tarnishing. As it turns out my stainless faucet shows water marks so it's not completely maintenance free. I think my previous faucet which was also stainless didn't mark up much so it might be different between brands. I think nickel would be really nice for your space since it's a warmer white as opposed to chrome. Either could be really nice. I also think brass could be really pretty. I recall seeing a picture of Kate Spade's kitchen with all brass on white and thought it was gorgeous - could work especially since your appliances are white. I wouldn't choose oil rubbed bronze because I think it'd really stand out too much. It can look great with dark counter tops in my opinion but it's a bold look with paler counter tops. Best of luck! I went through a similar dilemma myself. I have cream cabinets and a black island and had my heart set on ORB hardware. It really looked bad with the black (to my eye anyways) so I went with brushed nickel. I'm really happy with the end result. I think so long as you have some contrast between the ORB and your dark wood it should be fine, but try it out on a sample cab somewhere to see how it would look.

Oh boy! I'm so excited (I love living vicariously!) IMHO, black cabinet hardware will be too dark with medium brown cabinetry. Also, if they're semi-open, you might want something lighter so the area doesn't seem dense. Bronze cabinet hardware is very in right now. What if you went with something like these oil rubbed bronze cabinet pulls (http://www.kitchen-cabinet-hardware.com/pulls-handles/studio-pull-handle-3-drillcenter-_WLD-P3010-OBH.php)? The combination of medium brown and darker black tint will combine all the elements you have now without making the room too dark. There's a bunch of oil rubbed bronze variations (light, dark, highlighted etc.) so you can pick the right combo for your cabinetry. I like brushed nickel for the bathroom. It's bright, clean and sleek, and so is chrome for the laundry. Black or crystal are both exciting and beautiful, so they'll make nice options for your daughter's room. Maybe ask which she'd prefer. For the bonus room, I'd also go with a bronze or antique brass or something rustique/gamesy sort of tone. Do you know what I mean? Anyway, I hope this was helpful and not an earful of nonesense! I agree with the finish but wouldn't get knobs. I have knobs on one of my vanity's and it drives me crazy. The cord on the hairdryer gets caught on it constantly. It also is the perfect height to get stuck on belt loops. Sounds dumb bit it happens more than you'd think! I have bin or cup pulls on my drawers in the kitchen & I like them. I'd do a smooth pull in the bathroom. Not sure if a bin pull would look right in a bathroom.
