About the Hash Brown Quiche.....
Comments (24)Thanks to those who reported back. Most people don't report and we are left wondering. Sometimes I'm guily of that myself. Also, thanks for telling about any changes you made and how you thought they turned out. Beverly...See MoreRecipe help: Hash browns, eggs, cheddar and cottage cheese...?
Comments (4)All recipes have a couple that sound similar. The great thing about hash brown casserole is that it is very forgiving and you can substitute and leave out stuff and it really doesn't matter. Below is the link for "Breakfast Pie" and then here is another link for "Amish breakfast casserole". http://allrecipes.com/recipe/amish-breakfast-casserole/detail.aspx By the way, you can often buy the frozen hash browns with the peppers and onions mixed in if you don't want to chop everything yourself. And I would like to add.. it's nice to see hash brown casserole recipes that don't use Cambell's soup as a sauce! Here is a link that might be useful: Breakfast Pie...See MoreRecipe of the Day December 23- Make ahead breakfast!

CHRISTMAS MORNING WIFE SAVER 16 slices of white bread slices of Canadian back bacon (enough to cover the pan) grated sharp cheddar cheese (enough to cover the pan) 6 eggs 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1 tsp dry mustard 1/4 c. minced onion 1/4 c. green pepper 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 3 cups of whole milk dash of Tabasco sauce 1 stick of butter Special K or Corn Flakes Butter a 9 X 13 baking dish. Cover the bottom with a layer of 8 slices of bread, then bacon, then grated cheese, and top with remaining 8 slices of bread, sandwich style. Beat eggs, salt, and pepper together. Stir in mustard, onion, green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, milk, and Tabasco sauce. Pour the mixture over the "sandwiches", cover, and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, melt the butter and pour over the top of the "sandwiches". Cover with the cereal. Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving....See MoreMac and Cheese -- A side or a main?
Comments (48)I agree, though I'm the one who said scratch mac and cheese seemed just as easy. To me, whipping up the equivalent from scratch is just as easy. In such a case, I'd likely crumble rather than grate the cheese (as in have done so—using a food processor cheats the issue, grating cheese by hand is tedious, and crumbling works just as well). Same with throwing together a cake. I don't need a recipe, just bing, bang, boom. The hard part, the liquid ingredients, is the stuff they leave out so the "lady of the house will feel like she's baking". If it's a just add water mix, that's a different story. That really is convenient on many levels. And maybe more of the convenience comes from not having to spend the time to learn to make these things enough repetitions so that making them from scratch does seem just as easy. The only issue I have with any mixes, beyond some extra chemicals that some have, is the tinny flavor, and some people prefer the outcome and flavor of mixes anyway. Whatever floats your boat. No shame. Difference of opinion. Room for all....See Moretackykat
