How Many Colors Do Your Leaves Have? Post 'em!
Comments (15)Simply wunnerful pictures. I'm adding El Capitan to the top of my order list, right above all the new fragrants. If somebody has Photoshop, don't they count the colors in a picture? Also, some of the enlargements/closeups remind me of cross stitch or needlepoint. They'd make beautiful needlework. I also like the Confused Angel. I'll have to find my new Guardian Angel to see what the heck its been doing for the last month since it arrived. (See, I need to keep the new guys corralled so I can become familiar with them.) Please keep adding. This is like the tricolor thread on steroids....See MoreOT - Too many cleaning products - How many do you have?
Comments (28)I won't even begin to list how many cleaning products are in my house. It's. Absolutely. Terrifying. That being said, I'm working on getting rid of much of it and using more natural/earth friendly methods. One thing that I am having a tough time giving up is my toilet bowl cleaner with bleach. I just haven't found anything that makes me feel like the toilet is as clean as when I use some bleach based product. Just mixed up a batch of baking soda, essential oils (eucalyptus and peppermint), a little bit of Dawn dishwashing liquid, and enough water to make a paste. This was used to scrub the tub which gets absolutely horrible because it's an old porcelain tub (but the finish was messed up from the previous owners)...it got it as clean as the harsher cleansers I've used with about the same amount of effort. Bonus is that it smelled lovely, way better than most cleaning products you can buy in the store. Looking forward to hearing more about some of the alternate cleaning products that people use....See More"Fluff post": do you make coffee at home? Provide details ...
Comments (74)A first thing in the morning infusion of caffeine is a lifeline for me!! My day doesn't get started until I have a mug of coffee in hand. I use a French press and have for years - it is quick, efficient and makes IMO the best coffee ever. My sister insists on her fancy-schmancy Italian espresso maker for her morning latte or cappuchino, but I prefer mine straight and black - no flavors ever........unless it is a dessert type, after dinner coffee drink with liquor :-) Living in the land of Starbucks and great coffee in general, good beans are not hard to find and I usually get bulk beans from one or more different outlets. Always dark roast. I prefer a coarse grind for the French press, so I get a pound a week and grind them onsite. I've yet to find a good home grinder that will produce the proper texture. And they don't lose any flavor that I can notice by grinding them and between the air tight canister and how little time they hang around, they remain fresh. I don't steep the French press long - mine actually came with a little egg-timer like device to time it. But I make it strong to begin with so long steeping is not necessary. And that first cup in the morning is like the nectar of the gods!! I could go without a lot of things in my life but coffee is not one of them!...See MoreFluff post: Where do you keep your keys?
Comments (71)My friends are out of town for months or even years at a time and I'm enlisted to go check on their place. One winter someone broke in. I had never seen a burglarized house before. I was shocked by how completely they ransacked, tore into, emptied, shook-out, turned inside out, spilled out, split open, yanked apart every thing they could. You could not move in the house without trampling on top of the household contents that were all over the floor, beds, chairs, tables, etc. It was a disaster. My neighbors really did not have anything of money value and most of their formerly valuable possessions are now old and undesirable. Nobody steals a tube TV anymore. Nobody steals a 20 year old computer. Nobody even steals a radio. Radio, what ancient thing is that? So when it comes to hiding your keys, I'd say their is really no completely hiding them from a determined thief. I wonder if some decoy keys set out in a somewhat obvious place, plus some sacrifice-able valuables left in equally obvious places could spare your better stuff, your well hidden better stuff. What do you think?...See MoreFun2BHere
