"Fluff post": do you make coffee at home? Provide details ...
Comments (74)A first thing in the morning infusion of caffeine is a lifeline for me!! My day doesn't get started until I have a mug of coffee in hand. I use a French press and have for years - it is quick, efficient and makes IMO the best coffee ever. My sister insists on her fancy-schmancy Italian espresso maker for her morning latte or cappuchino, but I prefer mine straight and black - no flavors ever........unless it is a dessert type, after dinner coffee drink with liquor :-) Living in the land of Starbucks and great coffee in general, good beans are not hard to find and I usually get bulk beans from one or more different outlets. Always dark roast. I prefer a coarse grind for the French press, so I get a pound a week and grind them onsite. I've yet to find a good home grinder that will produce the proper texture. And they don't lose any flavor that I can notice by grinding them and between the air tight canister and how little time they hang around, they remain fresh. I don't steep the French press long - mine actually came with a little egg-timer like device to time it. But I make it strong to begin with so long steeping is not necessary. And that first cup in the morning is like the nectar of the gods!! I could go without a lot of things in my life but coffee is not one of them!...See MoreFluff post: Where do you keep your keys?
Comments (71)My friends are out of town for months or even years at a time and I'm enlisted to go check on their place. One winter someone broke in. I had never seen a burglarized house before. I was shocked by how completely they ransacked, tore into, emptied, shook-out, turned inside out, spilled out, split open, yanked apart every thing they could. You could not move in the house without trampling on top of the household contents that were all over the floor, beds, chairs, tables, etc. It was a disaster. My neighbors really did not have anything of money value and most of their formerly valuable possessions are now old and undesirable. Nobody steals a tube TV anymore. Nobody steals a 20 year old computer. Nobody even steals a radio. Radio, what ancient thing is that? So when it comes to hiding your keys, I'd say their is really no completely hiding them from a determined thief. I wonder if some decoy keys set out in a somewhat obvious place, plus some sacrifice-able valuables left in equally obvious places could spare your better stuff, your well hidden better stuff. What do you think?...See MoreFluff post: Where do you keep scissors?
Comments (55)Lots of scissors!! It’s so frustrating when you can’t find any. When my 3 kids were in school they kept borrowing them and not putting them back. I finally made a vow, whenever I couldn’t find my scissors. I’d buy another pair as a spare. I also picked up a few pairs at estate sales. One day as I was moving things out to the garage fir an upcoming yard sale, I took a second look at a large Grumpy mug. It was the perfect size to hold my scissors! It now sits on my desk filled with scissors. My favorites are the 2 I bought at a yard sale from a retired teacher ( heavier with black painted handles). After reading these posts I realize I have others too- 2 kitchen shears, bang trimming scissors, cat nail trimming scissors, various scissors in my sewing box....See MoreFluff Post: what do you use to line your wastebaskets?
Comments (34)Several years ago I bought a wastebasket frame that attached to the inside of my kitchen sink cabinet that used the plastic grocery bags with handles that we brought home with our groceries. I loved it. But of course, now you can't get them at grocery stores in our area anymore. Can't even pay for them. You either buy a paper bag or a durable bag, or bring your own. I can buy bags made for that frame, but they are a bit expensive, so I took it down. I now use a 2 gallon round wastebasket under the sink and in both bathrooms. If I stretch them a bit, I can use the plastic bags we put produce in at the store. I also have purchased bags that I use when I'm out of produce bags. When I have to use the purchased bags, I am reminded that we don't eat enough roughage, LOL. The only other thing I use trash bags for is the Litter Robot. I have purchased special bags for it, but they're about 50 cents each! I now use cheap 13-gallon bags for the Robot. We have 6 cats and that's a lot of doo-dee. We would be spending a good portion of the day scooping were it not for the Robot. It was expensive, but well worth the cost in my opinion. Another opinion: Bruno is our most intelligent cat. I've trained him to jump through a hoop and I've thought it might be worth training him to use the toilet. Then he could teach the others, LOL....See MoreUser
