We use only white paper towels and paper napkins. We buy Bounty paper towels and Bounty paper napkins.

We only buy white paper towels as well from Costco but do tend to use rags for cleanup. I have a lot of colourful paper napkins with designs on them left over from years of buying on sale. A few years ago I bought a few sets of cloth napkins which I now use for entertaining. The paper napkins will slowly get used as I tend to use them for stand-around appetizers.

I don't know if its paper napkins per se that are the problem or if its the colourful dyes in them that are the environmental problem.

I do like colourful designs on tissue boxes. I try to find ones that match my bathroom and kitchen. I don't let my DH buy them because he buys the ones on sale and doesn't care if they don't match. :)

I buy both white paper towels and the less costly brown industrial rolls of paper towels. No prints.

I've always understood it to be the dyes that are the problem. The paper towels/napkins should break down.

I guess I'm bad for the environment, because I only buy paper towels with prints on them. Plain white is too boring, although I do use plain white napkins.

Use mostly white paper products on a daily basis but like the printed ones for special occasions.

I use white paper towels. I try to use cup towels/tea towels -whatever you prefer to call them as much as possible, and I use cloth napkins.

I usually only use white. But i couldn't resist the bounty rolls with the star wars BB-8 prints. I love that little droid.

We use the Kirkland Paper towel, but very sparingly. A pack of them can last us well over a year. I prefer a cloth.

Lisa_fla, I had forgotten that there ever was colored toilet paper! But now I recall peach, blue, and mint green!

White paper has been bleached, some argue that is as bad as the use of dyes.

I grew up in a town with 2 different paper mills, and can remember the river that ran through the middle of town being whatever color the mill was producing that day.

I rarely use paper towels, never for cleaning (unless cleaning up pet poo or barf); I do use paper napkins (plain white) but as few as possible.

I'm surprised they're still making printed paper towels. I thought that fell by the wayside when they stopped selling colored toilet paper.

We buy Costco white paper towels and Vanity Fair paper napkins. We use cloth for the evening meal.

On the last half of the last Costco paper towel roll we will ever buy. It took several years to use up. Single rolls from now on. Likely buy white. Use dish towels and rags to clean up for the most part.

No paper napkins unless we forgot to tell them at the drive through. Use cloth. Not white cloth. One set is prints with autumn leaves, others are Ikea kitchen towels cut in half that have woven designs in fairly dark colors.

White Costco toilet paper though, haven't completely gone off the deep end.

I do my best to avoid buying all paper products except toilet tissue, so I don't have to worry whether the printed version or the white version is better for the environment. :-) Enjoy your roosters, Scott, just use less of them...have a "show" roll of paper towels...lol!

I buy whatever is on sale or I think is the best value for the money. I don't care if it has prints on them or not. None of my paper towels go in a land fill.

My gripe is with O-Cello sponges. They are weird colors like purple or orange. Are purple and orange the colors in most peoples kitchens and bathrooms? I should write to them and complain.

Bounty white paper towels - don't want some tacky design on them. No paper napkins in my house - cloth only. I know - I'm weird and a dinosaur.

Never ever any prints on paper towels (Bounty) or paper napkins. I usually am using cloth napkins, even for daily use, but keep a stash of white Bounty napkins in hand just in case. We grab some to take on picnics or in the car, etc.

I have part of a roll, I bought in August... it is all white. Will prolly have it till mothers day or so.... We use home knitted dishcloth, cotton dish towels and cotton napkins....

I just ordered solid yellow paper towels from Amazon. I will report back.

I hope you like them. I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a printed colorful roll of paper towels. And cannot. But I've bought mine solely at Costco for so many years, along with TP, that I haven't particularly looked....I haven't seen anything but white or unbleached brown at any family or friends houses though.

I do remember using a colored napkin not too long ago but in a Mexican restaurant. I spilled something on my shirt, dipped my napkin in my water glass, proceeded to blot as my server leaped towards me yelling 'No!' Red napkin, red dye. Now had a red stain on my front ;0)

Plain white Charmin TP, plain white bounty napkins, and select a size paper towels.

I prefer white for all my paper goods. Costco towels and toilet paper and I like the Vanity Fair Everyday for napkins.

I do have a collection of colorful napkins for party ware. I do a lot of themed picnics with disposables and I enjoy themed party goods.

I remember making multicolored facial tissue carnations by the gazillions for the prom in the 60s. My mother always bought printed paper towels.....my mother, Scott. Lololol

I have a huge pile of cotton and linen bar towels folded in a drawer and stacked on a counter. I do use cloth napkins but have a roll of paper towels under the sink for throw away messes.

I use mainly white Bounty paper towels..the ones that really work well too. Less waste. I'm another one that remembers colored TP too. When I was a newlywed it was almost a little thrill to be able to coordinate our tp with the matching Kleenex! Pretty pinks and pale blues and dreamy pale green. I almost miss that stuff. My husband didn't give a rat's rear end..he would have used bark if it was there.

Plain white Charmin bathroom tissue, plain white Viva select a size paper towels. I believe the dye issue in paper towels has to do with using them around food rather than its impact on the environment.

Just plain white at my house....the ones that tear in half sheets.

I just have a few rolls so only take it out when people come over. I love to see their puzzled faces. It is sewer safe.

I don't think I've even seen printed paper towels in a couple of years. I usually only order online at Target or Walmart so they will ship them and I get free shipping or I buy them at Target.

I've always been cautioned to buy white toilet paper because the dyes cause problems for some women. I either have that shipped or buy at Costco. I only buy Kirkland brand or Scott brand although I currently have a case of Charmin because my neighbor gave me her stuff when she moved.

I remember when using the facilities at Dover Castle, I was amused to see each sheet of tp printed with "Property of HRM". It was that slick, shiny kind of tissue, too. I think I have a few sheets of it still in my scrapbook!

i still see prints on paper towels and napkins at grocery store and not just at holiday time.

i use marcal, its made from recycled paper., so i guess it helps some. we do limit paper towel usage.

morz8, unless your blouse or shirt is dry clean only, you might try what I find helpful at removing pigmented stains: Oxyclean. Another thing that works for things like red wine stain is (get ready) that WHITENIng mouth rinse such as that sold by Listerine.

Petalique, I did get the red dye out of my shirt and with Oxyclean but appreciate the tip. I'd never heard that about a whitening mouth rinse, it might be something to keep in mind. We have the blue Listerine here, I don't think it's whitening but what our dental hygienist says is good for teeth tongue and gums.
