jez00i, the new leaves do have a gloss; which dulls a bit with time and that pervasive film of dust. There is a 'skinny' type of duster (not the feather duster) which fits rather well along the "V" formed by the leaflets and rachis. An up down motion does restore some of the luster to the plant.

Though the image of these things isn't very clear, it looks like one of the many species of artillery (or bird's nest) fungi. The fruiting bodies (the part you see above ground....mushrooms) are attached to the 'working' part of the fungal organism, the hyphae and mycelium. They would resemble roots. I suspect that you gave your plant a vacation outside last year and that the organic based potting medium was inoculated with the spores. These fungi (if that's what you have) are decomposers and not at all harmful to your plant, but I sure wouldn't want one of those species inside my home. The spores (what looks like seeds) are expelled far distances and stick to any and everything. Keep them removed and disposed of as soon as you see them. As I recall from a few years back, someone here in the gardenweb complained of mysterious black spots (that wouldn't wash off) on his living room wall and windows. One of these sneaky little mushrooms was to blame, lol. Here is a link that might be useful:

If you goggle "yellowing of zz plant leaves", it will tell you to remove the plant from the pot and repot in fresh soil, removing all the rotten roots. Chances are that it has been overwatered. That "weird plant" that is growing in the pot is the zz flower. I have a zz plant growing in my garden and I rarely water it.

I'm looking for seeds from these two plants: chlorophytum comosum (Spider plant), full green leave variety. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorophytum_comosum Zamioculcas zamiifolia (ZZ plant), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zamioculcas. These two common house plants are too easy to propagate from cuttings. For this reason it is very rare to find vendor that sells their seeds. I exclusively grow plants from seeds so please if you have them please let me know Thank you.
