I like two. We are planning a similar island (9 feet) and were told two would be good and three too much.

I think three of those very large pendants would be visually overwhelming. However, I looked at the specs and see that, despite the large diameter, they only take a 72 watt bulb. Are you sure that 144 watts is going to be adequate illumination? I don't mean to criticize your taste, but I'd be picking three pendants of a smaller size, and with as high an illumination as I could find, for that space.

Thanks for taking my comment the way it was intended. I will also point out that very large pendants would have to be probably at least 7' above the floor to not be distracting when people are standing and talking. And the higher the fixtures, the less illumination on the counter. Smaller pendants will give you more flexibility in placement and height.

Yes, because they are solid, and you island is only nine feet long, and because they are EACH 18 inches wide and three will be overwhelming and a visual blocking mass. And because I do this stuff every single day for a living : ) ? and I'd not let you buy a third. And you will HATE three of them? Your inspiration photo isn't lying......that's roughly "nine and a little" feet you are seeing, and I can tell because of the counter chairs.

Using just two will be plenty o impact.Here are two, very OPEN and airy on nine feet x 4 feet, and they are 12 inches wide and 14 high. Not the best angle.....but they were plenty I assure you

What would you recommend I do?! I’ve gone through hundreds of pendants to find something in my budget and a style I like. Would you suggest going with a more open "globe" style?

Or what about doing two of the Agnes pendant (that weve been discussing) and putting a can in between for additional light?

We plan to use LED bulbs.

These are not meant to light your entire kitchen. The solid shade forces light down ONTO the counter top, which is actually where you want it. A clear glass or open style allows light to disperse widely. Actually less effective! Not as warm and inviting either .

That Lumens site ( your link) is selling you open box, non returnable. It's been shipped to someone else and returned. I would stay far away from that. I don't care WHAT they say. Stay away. I'd get these on Circa Lighting..IN THE SMALL SIZE and in white, same thing and do three.Because it is 10 inches wide, not 18 : ) and 339.00, $ and that will give you 75/3 or 225 watts DOWN on the counter,. And a great fit to island size.

Grrrrrr!!!! Two of the larger is FINE!!! So are three of the smaller! But. Do not buy from a junk site online and a re box Get the Agnes from Circa.

Second: These are stemmed. Check your ceiling height. The overall height on these is 50" . IF you can remove a 16" stem, it's 34. and if you have a NINE foot ceiling, you are fine. If not, you pay a fee to customize,, or your electrician has a threader tool and knows how to use it. Not all of them do. Or won't risk it and will refuse.

The globe at 18 is fine for TWO........ixnay on that "loft" thing. : (

The quality on Circa/Visual comfort is EXCELLENT. How long will you have them? Mmmmmm?
