I often feel the same when shopping for clothes. Sometimes I just want to "survey" what's available before making any decisions. Or sometimes it's just an entertaining window shopping excursion. I have left stores when I feel that the sales staff is just too aggressive.

And then there is the opposite. Being ignored completely. I like to be acknowledged with, 'Welcome to ____, is there anything, in particular, I can help you with?"

Then I can say that I am either browsing or I need a specific garment.

I would hate that. I’m much happier being acknowledged and then left to browse. I don’t like going to yard sales, even.

I quite going to craft sale. 95% are vendors selling overpriced junk jewelry, kitchen products you can buy at walmart for a better price, candles or soup or dip mixes. There is rarely any homemade unique crafts.

Sadly you are right, so much jewelry now. The art of crafting is disappearing.
