I would not call you any of those names. These little rodents are quite prolific and it is your space and you have to establish boundaries. Cat is probably a better suggestion . Recently on my way to work I saw a very old german shepperd walking on very unsteady legs, coming to a very busy street. It appeared this dog was on its own, and I could not let it get run over by a car. So I followed it around the block, the dog looked at me suspiciously a few times and eventually reached a driveway. It went down the driveway to a yard. I knocked on the door and an older woman came. I realized I have seen her in the neighbourhood before. I told her about the dog and she said it should not have been outside at all. It was a sixteen year old male. I can't tell you how gratefull she was this dog was safe. As a younger woman I might have shown some concern for other animals, now I go out of my way to help people and animals. The most satisfying thing in all this: my children have shown same care and consideration for life of others.

Hi Pat, good to hear from your. That is so great you got to meet Janice. I am jealous and wish I could have been there. I hope you both took lots and lots of pictures. What a dream trip. I haven't forgotten about posting some pictures soon. On some level my brain is trying to organize it for when I get a longer time at the computer. Today is is raining (first time in ages) so I thought I'd do a quick one with the birds. I see I left one extra picture in there - oh well... We were quite content with the reslults that they all flew away and got a chance to live. My hubby was especially quite taken with them. Brody is just fine though often in trouble for wandering down to the neighbors. They have a Pyrneese (? sp) and the two dogs are best buddies. The trouble is we don't trust Brody in case Saber is shut up. He has gone as far as the Trans Canada hwy. once or twice. It's a mile away but Brody like action and I'm afraid we are pretty boring. A few weeks ago Brody was let out at night after dark. This is usually safe as I don't think he sees that well and never goes far. That night he didn't come back until 3:30 in the AM. I found out he was attending a garden wedding of some other neighbors. Everyone loved him.

Thank you all! Yes, meat eaters, well known for raiding nest but definitely not seen much getting mice from deep snow like snowy owls do. As to which direction it's flying..to the right happens to be south, since we are on the northern hemisphere and the sun is still very low in the sky to the south, the shadow will more or less cast to the north.

This is Wonderfull!...Blue Birders my hats off to you! Bare with me...I'm a little scattered and my time is limited. First things first .....I know this sounds lame but my internet provider for my home computer has not given me the service that I was paying for so I have no service at this time. I'm going to take care of that hopefully this weekend.I'am able to log on at work to do some things in between the work that I do. I'll post photos as soon as I start new internet service. I was concerned with the present conditions for Harry & Sally. So before I signed on to the forum I tried to contact the good people at NABS. A gentlemen there called me yesterday evening we talked for 30 min or so and gave he me advise I will always keep in mind ..... he said try not to fix things before they happen. I must have done something good if they came to that box. I'm going to make the neccesary changes to bring this box up to specs as it stays mounted to the pole.(wren guard,stove pipe) It dosen't open so I'm going to put a bigger roof (and a nest cam) on it and acess it by removing the roof for now. There is one off spec that I don't want to mess with. The hole height dim from the floor to the hole itself is .75 short of 5.75. I peeked in the hole and noticed that there is nesting material.I will be removing the roof this weekend. I'm expecting it to be empty. It's too late for babies right?
