What type? Just moved in...(pictures)
Comments (4)Ordinary mophead, Hydrangea macrophilla, if you'd like to know the 'type'. Particular name at this point is irrelevant, I think. If you bought your property 2 years ago and just 'discovered' it, it should be in ground for quite some time, planted by previous owners. If it is happy where it is, don't move it, unless it's in the way of something. Rather try to eliminate weeds and build a nice bed around already established shrub that blooms in IN without protection....See MoreJust moved in; house has small pond.
Comments (2)I'm normally a proponent of leaving things alone, but in this case it doesn't look like there is much to disturb and it would be nice to see what's going on anyway. I would drain it. It would be nice if there were a big pile of sludge that once removed would increase the depth. It can get very hot where I am in 7b and fish might not survive in less than a foot of water and would likely freeze solid under some winter conditions. If depth cannot be increased, I suspect fish would be a very bad idea. Yes, a bunch of potted plants in the shallow water, a bunch of acquarium under water plants tossed in the deeper water (don't collect them and carry them to warm mediteranian climes to contaminate the whole sea, they grow super well even in zone 7b so they are verboten in natural environments), and nice plants on the edges that soften the edge would look nice, give shade, and create a hopefully good pond environment. Water flow would give aeration and help plants filter the water. However, again, the low volume might be an issue from over heating or cooling that could be increased by flow....See Morejust moved in. need help decorating living room/ dining room & master

Comments (4)The whole thing looks boxy because you have a ring of two foot wide linear beds around the house with plants crammed right up against it, a narrow front walkway also crammed up against the house and one sad palm struggling to get out from under the eaves. Sure you can edge the beds and the New Front Walkway in the same pavers as the new drive. BUT, the beds need to be a minimum of six feet wide, looks like you have enough space for ten feet wide of bed and they could use a little movement instead of rigid straight lines. Bigger beds means you won't have to prune everything into cubes to fit and you will have the room for more variety of tropical flower and foliage plants....See MoreDLM2000-GW
