Mirror vs Medicine Cabinet, which to choose?
Comments (18)rufinorox - Nice looking beveled glass cabinet. You should be very pleased with the overall update. We are in the beginnings of a facelift to our master and planning for a similar look by using a beveled mirror across a double vanity. The towel holder is simply a robe hook from the same collection as the towel bars. We found ours at Pottery Barn but most collections have something similar. Some even have really large ones termed "harness hooks" to use in lieu of towel bars....See Moremirror vs medicine cabinet
Comments (13)WG Wood products in Florida will custom make in-wall cabinets that also are partially outside the wall. Here is their explanation: "Maybe you would love to have the depth of a deeper cabinet, but you only have standard 2x4 walls. Well, this option is your answer! The SixforFour Option gives you a 5.5" deep box, but it's made for standard 2x4 wall construction. So 4" of the cabinet box goes into the wall, the other 1.5" sticks out. But we use a custom trim just for this which cleverly disguises how much of the cabinet is actually sticking outside of the wall. It's a great way to get extra space without any sacrifice. Counting the door, you will have approximately 2 1/4" on the outside of the wall. We can also do this same effect on a 7 1/4" depth cabinet box by special request. Just give us a call and we can help you with that custom order." They make everything to order, I think, so it is easy to work with them to get what you want. They have so many options it can make you dizzy. I want the cabinet for the toilet brush and plunger, one for toilet paper and tissues and a little waste basket, one in the hall for a a fire extinguisher! My problem is I don't have enough walls....See MoreFloating mirror affects lighting for bathroom vanity - Options?
Comments (2)No photos posted... That said, the two sinks end up squished to the ends because of the drawer base, so you almost need 4 sconces if you want them symmetrical to the sinks. Same goes for pendants. Alternatively you can have sconces on the sidewall and a double sconce mounted in the center. Drilling mirror glass is easy enough for those that do it for a living. I’ve only seen one break during Install....See Moremedicine cabinet question
Comments (10)I hate it when designers say don’t do that because it is “out.” You know what is always out? Counters covered with clutter. So I hear you! I have 2 pedestal sinks flanked by drawer units, maybe 30”? I have one long mirror above sinks. My husband demanded a medicine cabinet because he doesn’t listen to me about drawer storage/organization. :-) in any event, it is more like a framed cabinet version and also has a mirror and I don’t even notice anymore. If someone doesn’t eventually buy my house because my large, marble, fab bathroom has a medicine cabinet, then ok, but I can’t see that. Houses should be for living, not selling. If it is so awful when you are ready to move, remove it. In the meantime, get it if it helps with clutter. The BIGGEST turn off in any house is clutter. The second biggest turn off is a toilet brush and a plunger sitting in the bathroom, but I digress.... enjoy your medicine cabinet and your new bathroom!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
