Hi Josh, thanks, I think the watering was minimal as these were salvaged from adoptees, whose pot initially looked fine (a big clump of 'em), but on closer inspection the center group of which was starting to rot. So these were a couple of the seemingly healthier divisions I salvaged off the group. So since I was saving them from early rot, I was nervous about more rot. Think maybe I sprinkled a bit of cinnamon & set them up dry for some time. Frankly, I don't recall what got me to water them, now I give it a bit from down below.

For some reason there are just a great many unregistered trailers. Candy Fountain is not registered either. It does make it hard to trace some of them though. I would not deprive myself of Candy Fountain because it isn't registered. I suppose it's also possible that some of them are running around under two different names and are the same. There are sure a lot of pink trailers. (I don't know this but I don't know why it couldn't happen either.) We seem to have found some confusion in other varieties. I finally decided to just live with it and grow one and stick 3 names on it - space saver (Neptune, Woodland Sprite, etc.) I don't have Sweetheart Trail and somebody gave me a yen for Violet Trail too so let me know if you find it. It's most likely gone since that seems to be the way with everything that is mentioned like that. (I don't really know though and don't mean to discourage you.) I will run a search on that group when I think of it. I hope it looks for the phrase and not "violet" and "trail" or everything will come up. (I see those are both real old Lyons)

I think the drying times that you calculated with the pumice will be detrimental only if you water the plant/pumice while it is still wet. Beyond that, I think you may be over-thinking this and over-worrying. I get 1/8" pumice from General Pumice Products here in the U.S. I just sifted and washed a bucketful over the weekend. It is drying in big oil pans outside -- and right now, it's really cold here in SW Florida. I don't think it will be fully dry until Thursday, and that will be 5 days. Chris is right -- use unglazed terra cotta pots if you can. Even with pumice, they will remain lightweight. Haworthias in pumice shouldn't need to be watered more than once a week, unless you live in hot southern Florida in the summer. Even then, mine only get watered about every 5 days. You don't HAVE TO water a Haw the very minute its mix is dry. You can wait a day or so and it will be fine.

I wouldn't use top for anything, except for top soil. What they sell around here is terrible. I still think your soil mix is finer than mine, even your regular soil, aside from the rooting soil, which would be nice too for that purpose. I use some Perlite fines for seed starting because there's no way I'd use Pumice and Perlite that's 3/16 - 1/4". Now that I started using at least half Pumice and Perlite, it might be nice to eliminate the peat moss stuff altogether, but I don't know what a good third ingredient would be. I have to see what they have locally at a garden store, which is difficult with a bad back. I got the Pumice and Perlite from Amazon, not being able to really see it first.
