We had an oak kitchen and I mean Oak everything.

We had our cupboards painted BM white dove, put in a backsplash and Bianco Antico granite counter top. we just had the walls painted SW worldly grey.

Every wall seems to be a different color. I would like to paint the front halls (seen on the left) and upper halls going up to the bedrooms. Because these halls are darker would it be a good idea to use BM Balboa mist or the kitchen color SW "worldly grey or the LR color Dulux "O'keefe grey" (every painter uses a different company.)

what would you suggest for the railings-? leave as they are. paint all white or paint white spindles and dark tops, newell post and hand rails

Consider using more green / grays. They seem to be very popular right now and they work with warm wood tones. You could still paint the spindles on the stairs white, but you would not need to darken the wood tones which will be necessary if you try to change your warm toned home to cool tones - something which is trending out. The green/grays tend to bridge the warm - cool gap. You can still darken the railing if you like, but you are going so cool in your tones that you are risking a lack of cohesion with the rest of your home and furniture.

Because it’s open concept. I do need to have it cohesive. So green for the hallways?thanks

Agreed. I thought I posted earlier, but apparently never hit submit-oh well. I think the blue is a wonderful color. Well-done! However, more in the hallway would be too much, I think. My first thought was something slightly deeper and richer than what you have now. I like the contrast, but would probably try a light caramel color or a putty color as Snow said. A gray or slilvery blue/gray as lukki said could be lovely also.

Take a look at this post. I think yellow and gold look very nice against wood...just not against light maple. Look at the green that the OP had in her last house and how nice that looked against her floor. I'd do a light green that wasn't pastel, more of a sophisticated grey/green or clear green. Cutiepie, it could just be my monitor, but while the Frosted Silver looks blue to me, the Moonlight White looks like a very pale yellow, and the Gentle Rain looks like it's veering toward pink. Giving feedback on colors over the internet is a dicey thing, and you're the one seeing the colors as they really look in your house. When I put (virtual) swatches of Frosted Silver up against Gentle Rain, they look very different (but they are both so greyed out that when I look at them separately, I don't see the difference). If you have (or can grab at Home Depot) swatches of the two colors, I think you'll see what I mean. I think a dark color can work even without much natural light as long as you have adequate electric lighting, or light coming from the adjacent rooms. Especially with lots of white trim/doors. My dining room gets very little natural light (lots of windows but the curtains are usually closed because of proximity to the neighbor's house). Because I had lots of white wainscoting, I went with chocolate brown walls, which I love. It's cozy and intimate, not dark and gloomy.

You might do a little research on what is best for babies. High contrast helps their eyes and their eye coordination develop. I used to work with a girl who did her whole Nursery in black and white, but I think that might have been going to a bit of an extreme LOL. I know that in the past people used to use soft pastels, but it seems like something with more darks and brights or darks and lights might be better.

Absolutely no green gray with that tile floor you have. And I’m sorry to say you need to rethink the worldly grey as it’s reading too cool with your floor. Read Maria Killams website to get a handle on the right neutral for your space.

You will need to get some sample jars of paint and paint some large pieces of foam board to see what goes. Your floor has warm and cool tones in it on my monitor - monitors are not always true to color. Here is an example of a warm floor with a gray green:

SW Sea Salt can be very mercurial - looking green one minute and gray the next and then blue - but it is very popular partly because of that. Put the painted foam board against the wall and floor and look at it at different times of the day.

If the floor gives you some problems, a runner with he wall color in it can help pull things together.

Well kitchen was just finished painting on Friday so that color will have to stay
