paint color for hallway

I painted my living room and kitchen Mercer Blue from Valspar. I am indecisive for the color to paint the hallway from the front door that opens up into the living room. I was thinking about carrying the Mercer Blue into the hallway or like Vintage Gray from Valspar. I'm not too good with paint colors and such...it took me forever to pick out the blue. I'll take any advice. Thanks. Oh and don't mind the mess, I'm a single bachelor and today is cleaning day.

That's a lovely blue, but I think more of the same in the hallway would be too much. I like your idea of a gray tone, but lean more towards a very light silvery bluish gray. Valspar.com has a virtual painter, why not upload one of your photos and try it out. It will really help to provide you with a visual idea of what a color will look like.

Great Blue color, I think light grey would be great also you might consider a putty color, that goes well with blue.

2 possible solutions/options. 1 find a grey/blue in their color offering that is just right, although way too dark, meaning that is goes with both tans. Then using that too-dark color as the starter find the very lightest shade on that chip, and use that as you foyer. Add in a little more color [double formula? maybe] as needed. 2 blast it out of the water from an opposite-the-color wheel rich deep purple or something wild that just sets off the whole house. I was in a bay front house on the Chesapeake once and the lady had a stairwell painted in a fantastic purple that just made the house. Your color might not be quite so bold but try thinking outside the box.

I'm brand new and definitely an amateur, but I would probably stay with a more neutral color, as you suggested. My entrance is somewhat similar in style and floor coloring. We used a Lowes color (back before we knew that there was a SW nearby us) It's called Cream in my Coffee and looks like it says. So I would say stay with a lighter more neutral color. But you don't *have* to I don't think. Other people here could give you much better guidance than mine though, I'm sure! You could try Sherwin Williams coloring guide on their website to see what you like or to get an approximate idea anyway. Good luck!

You might do a little research on what is best for babies. High contrast helps their eyes and their eye coordination develop. I used to work with a girl who did her whole Nursery in black and white, but I think that might have been going to a bit of an extreme LOL. I know that in the past people used to use soft pastels, but it seems like something with more darks and brights or darks and lights might be better.

Agreed. I thought I posted earlier, but apparently never hit submit-oh well.

I think the blue is a wonderful color. Well-done! However, more in the hallway would be too much, I think. My first thought was something slightly deeper and richer than what you have now. I like the contrast, but would probably try a light caramel color or a putty color as Snow said. A gray or slilvery blue/gray as lukki said could be lovely also.

My LR and DR are a shade of blue too (SW quietude). I paired it w/ SW believable buff in my hall and foyer and it goes well. It's like a neutral beige-ish color. Another color which may look nice w/ the blue is SW relaxed khaki. It looks just like you'd think, like a pair of khakis, lol. Good luck!
