But watch the low end stuff at Lowes. My dh and I went in there to look at vanities, especially their low/mid priced stuff. All of their display models were shoddily put together - crooked drawers, staples showing on the ends, doors that hung off kilter. A lot of particle board, which I think could be problematic in a bathroom (potentially wet environment). Granted, those were *display* units; maybe the ones still in boxes were assembled with some care. But I'd be very cautious. And no matter what, the boxed units would still have all that particle board. After that experience we gave up entirely on the big box stores for vanities - we felt like we'd get junk from them in the low/mid price range. If you want rustic - which you probably don't - I can tell you where to go for *that*!

parts-I did not use a light rail. With the tape they go up pretty flush so you don't need to. Plus, my KD had contractor mount them on the front rail so that they are even less likely to be noticed and they tend to light the mid-back of the counter better - which seems to work nicely bc overhead lights get the front part of the counter. I've attached a picture so I think you can see what I mean. However, I will say this...when I'm in the DR, I can see the undersides of the cabs a little. It drives me a little batty. So I'm thinking about getting the paint matched and slapping a couple coats on the underside so the cream view doesn't get broken up. (I don't know if that will help and I plan to ask KD before I do it, maybe it's a terrible idea?!) So I don't know if a light rail would have helped to cover that issue? Yes, they are full overlay. However, this is probably one of the places where a cab line a step or two up would have been better. There is def a small gap between cabs. Completely within reason for the specs given, but bigger than I have seen in other more expensive lines. Doesn't bother me enough to have spent more for less gap, though! :)

No engineered stone is approved for UV exposure. It’s not an industry secret at all. None can go outside. Period. If your professionals that you worked with had done their jobs, you’d be an educated consumer and know that it’s not an exclusion just for Cambria. Direct sun from standard new windows shouldn’t pass enough UV to damage your floors, furniture, or e-stone. Standard windows already come with UV blocking properties, so if yours are so old that they don’t have it, you’ve got other issues about UV exposure in your house. Old windows need UV blocking film installed to avoid degradation to all kinds of interior finishes. Not just your e-stone. If it’s a relatively new window, that’s a conversation that you need to have with your window manufacturer. It’s defective. This is Not on Cambria. Or Silestone. Or Pental. Or Zodiaq. Or any e-stone manufacturer. New windows shouldn’t have issues with transmitting enough UV to damage your home.. Poop happens. This isn’t on Cambria. Talk to your window manufacturer.

That may be true but has not been my experience. We have owned the Cambria Quartz for 8 years and the Lowes Quartz for 2.5 years. I put all of my hot oven pans on them, cut everything on them, including lemons and strawberries and even permanent markers have come off after my children drew on them. The only thing that has slightly stained my counters is curry/Indian food if left for a long time. Even this I got off with scrubbing but there is a faint hue but it blends in with the marble. We do have an undermount sink and there is one chip on the Cambria after 8 years. I knew that I could do all these things to the countertop because I got a sample 12 x12 during our 2 year renovation before the cabinets were ready and we tried to destroy it and could not. I left red wine, lemon juice, strawberries and a few other things on the sample for over a month without staining. I then purposely put pans from the stove, oven and broiler on the sample- no damage. I was really nervous about the marble look (Cambria Torquay) because it was brand new and no other companies had a white marble quartz yet. It was the best decision EVER after having a black granite and a marble countertop in prior house. Quartz is so much better and now there are dozens of marble looking quartz countertops. My only concern is that my now teenagers are going to destroy some granite or marble countertop in the future because they don't even think about cutting vegetables and meat on the countertop, placing hot things on it or dropping staining liquids.
