Walk-in or walk-through pantry
Comments (16)Sometimes, but it's not far and it's so nice to have all the food in one area and organized. I love not having to reach into cabinets to find the food and it makes putting things away really easy. Having the counter in the pantry allows us to put all the grocery bags there from the store and empty at will without taking up kitchen counter space as well. It's probably one of the best decisions we made and I'm glad we did the walk through. Walking around the whole time would have been a real PITA. Good luck!...See MoreImprove curb appeal of garage prominent house and hidden front door
Comments (13)The only construction change I would make is to box in the stone posts. To my eye they look very odd - just random shapes of stone glued onto the posts. Larger light between the garage doors. Good ideas above. I would just paint the garage doors and trim, not add fancy windows to them. You want to draw attention to the right side of the house, not draw attention to the garage doors....See MoreGreat room after entering through foyer and walking through the kitche
Comments (18)The first one is definitely a non-starter -- the layout is terrible and you do not have room for an island with any kind of seating...you barely have room for a narrow island with no seating. Remember that the aisle b/w the island and stairs will be busy b/c it's the only way to the rest of the home's public rooms. The layout in the 2nd is marginally better, but still not very good. Given the smaller size of the home, do you really need two table spaces (Dining Room & Breakfast area) and island seating???...See MoreFront door hidden by garage
Comments (29)I definitely agree that changing the color of the front door so that it did not match the shutters would help it stand out more, then add a larger light fixture. If it were my house, I'd probably change the whole door assembly to a set of french doors with divided lights to match the windows rather than the single door with sidelights. From there, it's really all about budget. On the lower end, a pathway and plantings would certainly help. On the higher end, a deck or patio would make a huge impact. I'd also consider creating a pergola over the new seating area that would tie the two prominent parts of the house together and visually bring the front door area out. Something like this would be look nice with your home. The beams could either run in the direction shown or run from top of garage wall to top of the opposite wall. I think that would be nice visually and create a really welcoming spot for you and your guests to hang out....See MoreUser
