Hoping my Violas Come up this spring
Comments (4)That looks so lovely. Such a great splash of color for so early in the year. I do so hope mine come up but I figgure I will buy some more even if they don't as they look so great. I know were I want to add some in a small gardenbed that has lots of the spring bulbs. Well, just have to wait and see....See MoreThe daffodils are coming up all over this spring.
Comments (12)I think it has been a strange spring for the daffodils. Now, I never had as many before as this spring because of all the ones I added this fall but I am noticing that while my daffodils have started blooming already (mainly the early ones) others are just breaking ground now. Different micro climates in my garden as I can tell the ones that are barely up are in colder spots not getting the sunshine that some of the others so. Of course, come later in the spring with the angle of the sun those not as sunny beds get plenty of sun. Full sun for most of them. Plus the daffs are not the only spring bulb show I am going to have. Most of the tulips here broke ground and seem to have caught up growthwise to the early tulips that showed their faces first. I should have a stunning tulip disply as I put in many plantings of them. Even so, I am walking around planning were I will add more tulips this fall and what types and color combos they should be. Plan on adding plenty more daffodils also....See Moremy garden is really coming into its own this spring
Comments (7)Solstice98 - that Peach rose (#6 from the top) is the 'Ambridge Rose' its an austin. It gets pretty spotty later in the year, but this does not stop it from blooming. I really love it. If you meant the pink one. That is the 'Dark Lady' The fragrance is amazing. A true rose fragrance. The problem is I have been doing trial and error and now I am not sure what it was that worked. I guess, I'll have to try everything again. I have moved the azaleas eventhough that spot gets afternoon sun. I will try puting them in various places to see who suffers and who thrives. Regine i prepare a pine needle bed in the back, thats how I was planning on acidifying the soil, but you think I should stick to the acid fertilizer instead? Please help me, I am trying for a southern/tropical garden and the tropical bit, I know how to care for, but not too sure on how to take care of those southern garden plants, like agapanthus, azales, etc. can anyone suggest some plants that are typical in the southern garden landscape but can withstand our humidity?...See MoreMy front garden in the spring (it's early spring here). Comments (7)Thanks, Phil and Anita. Can you believe, it's actually zone 4 here, bordering on 5 (most z5 plants will grow fine due to the heavy snow cover in the winter) but there's that much difference in the seasons! And thank you too, Ken. I think you're right. Would you be more likely to believe it's montana Aureomarginata rather than Paradigm? Somehow, I think the tags may have gotten mixed....See Morenewhostalady Z6 ON, Canada
