For extra support for our 33" undermount sink, DH wants to install 2 alu angle bars (2x2x1/8") underneath the edges of our Kohler Prolific.
He doesn't want to use the two straps we already have due to:
1. the strap's hardware is designed for plywood cab sides, and would need modification for the MDF.
2. The Prolific has welded 90 degree corners and its bottom is almost flat, so the straps would only contact with the sink at the welded sharpish corners.
He'd prefer to install two alu angle bars underneath both sides of the cabs, running the depth of the sink (once the sink is installed). The bars will reach 3/4" underneath the sink's sides. To fasten them, he'll use bolts that will go all the way through the cab walls. Is this a good idea? Is the 1/8" strong enough? Any pros/cons?
We've mocked it up with a short angle piece in the below pics.
