Comments (31)Hi Cindylouhoo...I made the grapevine wreath planter using chicken wire fencing as the planter part and wired it to the grapevine wreath...then I packed it with moss...the kind you see hanging from trees in the southern states...can't remember what it's called....anyways I had my sister send me some...I pulled it thru the chicken wire so it would cover it and disquise it...then I lined it with a black plastic bag and put my potting soil in the newly created 'planter' hole...then plant with your favorite plants and add a few embellishments if you want and you are done...:o) Here are a couple other garden accents... Comments (103)Let's clear the air a bit if possible. equinoxequinox, feel free to use my name. I'm not sure why you chose not to. Maybe for fear of censorship. I think you hit the nail on the head with the commercial nature of this website. For what it's worth, neither of my other forums derive financial support from advertising. And THAT is neither advertising "for" those sites, nor an attempt to get people "here" to go "there". Simply comment. Since it was one of my posts that was deleted, I suppose I could be offended, but I'm not really. This site, like many others, is a COMMERCIAL site. They do not offer this site in order to "make a better world" nor to be "friendly". They operate this site to MAKE MONEY. I understand that. ANY activity that they PERCEIVE will diminish their revenue stream will be "dealt with accordingly". As I said, I understand. One should not expect a koala to behave like a snake and vice versa. About the only things that I would like to see changed here at Garden Web is the addition of 1) A better editor that allows the use of more editing options so that the only option for emphasis is NOT capital letters, 2) "Stickies" - a means of permanently placing significant threads at a location where they can be easily found and referenced. This site - Garden Web - especially for a commercial site, is the most "primitive" site I know of on the web. It would be easy to say "It's all about the money", but it isn't. It's about having the business acumen to recognize what increases "flow" in a revenue "stream". Being "primitive" does not increase "flow", and in fact can actually impede the "flow". Garden Web is an interesting place. I've met some nice people here, as I do on every website I venture on to. There are a few sites in which the thugs that run the site have actually succeeded in driving me away permanently, but those are very few. Garden Web appears to have enough internet savvy to choose their words carefully when admonishing those that they perceive are threatening "harmony" AND thereby the revenue stream. Their actions in this particular matter seemed neither necessary nor "wise", but they weren't particularly heavy-handed other than the deletes. So here's my take on the WHOLE matter: 1) Garden Web has NOT bent MY nose out of shape by deleting my post. 2) I hold no "grudges" against ANYONE here at the vermicomposting site. Based on first-hand experience, I strongly suspect that there isn't a poster on this site with whom I wouldn't enjoy spending an evening. Let's move on to new and better WORMY stuff. Comments (65)thank you everyone! yesterday was my birthday (the big 3-6) and i felt really blessed to have her little one week old self in my arms! re: the soapstone sink...i know everyone thinks soapstone is soft...but i will wait a little while before i set her in such hard places. today she gets a sponge bath on my bead ;) re: my tummy.....yes, my fundus has been contracting (owwie) but i still have an awful looking, varicose vein snaking up the back of my leg, so i think i automatically forfeit any "hot mom" status---thank god! re: induction....after putting many pieces together, i think my water was leaking for a month. i also know a few moms who delivered about a week after their water broke--naturally--with only positive results. at that moment though, i needed to follow the policies of our midwives' practice or i would have been without a health care provider for the big moment. well, other than my nurse husband who had no intention of assisting me solo! :) i really appreciate all the sweetness. hope everyone had a great holiday season. and hope i can speed up my one key peck so i can nurse and participate on the forum instead of just lurking. oh--and thank you to the lurkers who posted! i feel honored! xoxoxo...See MoreSeen anything odd lately?
Comments (28)I was walking by a small stream in my village and stopped to watch a bevy of swallows work an open section. Those little birds were a flash of speed with dating manauvers. One would swoop down and whiz a short length of the stream and then pull up at the last instant to avoid an overhanging bush. And then, it would dive again and sweep the stream in the opposite direction. What amazed me was it was at least 10 birds working the same space while flying in opposite directions. I wondered how they kept from crashing into one another; What rules of the road were they using? I wasn't able to determine anything other than their extremely quick reflexes and they did limit the number of birds passing through the hunt zone at the same time. Any misquito in that zone did not stand a chance....See More- 6 years ago
