Urgent pool remodel construction question

Elaine
We live in the SF Bay Area and are in the midst of a pool remodel - resurfacing, tile, hardscape. (Although due to rains not much lately). I just got notified today that concrete pouring day is tomorrow.

We have a landscape architect neighbor who is not doing the job but is coaching us through this process. He tells me that before any concrete hardscape is poured, the old bonding, which is exposed underneath our new travertine coping, needs to be chipped off at a 45° angle at minimum. He claims that not chipping off the bonding will result in guaranteed cracking of the concrete in under 10 years.

Any pool construction pros out there have an opinion before I likely engage in a heated argument at 8 am tomorrow morning insisting that it’s done or I won’t allow the concrete to be poured?

THANK YOU!
