Caught InThe Act! Seed Snatchers BEWARE!
Comments (8)LOVE these stories!! I am unable to leave the house without baggies and now that this is my 2nd year at it, I know enough to bring a pen and precut pieces of paper. I have the hardest time remembering what is what when I get home. My daughter, nearly 2yo, can snatch with the best of them!! I prefer to snatch on my bike (less traceability) and last night while driving through an unknown neighborhood, I spotted 8' hollyhocks and something else with a seed head just SCREAMING my name. My son 4.5yo asked if we were returning on our bikes - YEAH!! He now understands that if we leave the flowers on the plant, we might get seeds. When collecting seeds in my yard, or the nearby neighbors, I now have a tote of supplies. I'm thinking I need a fisherman's vest, pockets galore, and a waist held basket - HA! I am becoming the crazy seed lady. DH is no longer embarrassed because he's seen the results of just one WS season, the beauty with cost savings. I also no longer get the eye roll when a swapper's envie arrives in the mail. The PO tried to overcharge for a seed envie and DH said - "go get 'em" when I went to complain - and actually asked what the result was when I returned home (no extra charge)....See MoreCaught in the act.
Comments (7)Congrats, Anna! I have not seen any VFs for 2 or 3 years either, MissSherry. I finally got my P. incarnata in the ground last month, and it has really taken off, altho still relatively small - about 3'. But, wouldn't you know, now I am seeing some of my P. 'Lavendar Lady' coming up in a couple different spots around the original planting area - which is exactly where I decided to plant the incarnata. Cannot believe this turn of events. Anyway, I do hope that the incarnata will entice the VFs to return and lay eggs one day. Susan...See MoreMy DGD caught in the act with a good kisser! (1 pic)
Comments (7)Does she have any lingering pains from the accident? Maire, I think she does. Her walk is still not what it used to be, and she doesn't do long distances. I believe the prognosis is that she'll eventually get back to normal though. Thanks, guys!!...See MoreCaught in the act: deer pruning emerald green arborvitae
Comments (5)In all honesty, it just happened to be in the right spot at the right time. I didnt see it eating smaragd. Thats the main spot in my “back-backyard” where deer go bw my neighbors and my property. The arborvitae behind it (I think nigra) gets munched also, just not as much. They dont eat the forever goldy but one year there was antler damage. Too much sun (full sun most of day) for the forever goldy, bland yellow color most of year (color in pic is not typical, think crayola yellow +/-) and slow growing compared to others in more shade....See Moreroselee z8b S.W.
