Quartz counter corner seam repair, help please!

Just had countertops installed and one corner looks a bit funky. The coloring is off, but I’m not sure that could be avoided due to our choice of quartz with some veining/marble effect (new carrera)? But, regardless of the funky coloring at the seam, it looks and feels a bit rough, scraped up.....just not the sleek, smooth finish the rest of the countertop has. Can anything be done to remedy this? if so, does it matter if backsplash tile is installed prior to fixing? Thanks for any tips, thoughts, advice!

It looks like a contaminated miter. I'd Dremel it out and fill it.

I found this document regarding Zodiaq's acceptable warpage levels: https://ovsco.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/First_Grade_Field_Nonconformities.pdf It says "less than 3 mm (0.1 in.) over 1524 mm (60 in.)" Joseph, I've seen your work on this forum and know that you repair countertops for a living. Is there anything that can be done to fix the counters or is replacing it the only way? I just want to know what my options are before I talk to them again...:/

Sorry, Melissa, I can't make any sense out of what you're describing. Perhaps you could draw something, take a picture of the drawing and post it? The more rounded the edge, the less likely the chipping.

I am a fabricator. "U" shaped counters can be a challenge for grain transition because the pieces are necessarily oriented at 90 degrees relative to each other. A good fabricator will work with you and have you participate in the part layouts so you know ahead of time what to expect. Of course this requires the slabs to be available for your inspection. My suggestion would be to select a fabricator with inventory so you can see the slabs. Ultimately you are far more likely to be satisfied with the end result.

You notice i didn't say "That's positively a contaminated miter."

No, based on an internet picture, I speculated that it may be a contaminated miter and offered a viable solution if it were.

Your burn supposition is a good guess too.
