First Nor'Easter Of The Year
Comments (28)Has anyone heard from gardenweed after the nor'easter? Do you think that she's still making s'mores, sorting seed & filling jugs by the the light of her wood stove? Hope that you are ok, gardenweed! BTW link below mentions Westport, which is south CT on the coast & gardenweed is in the north almost to the MA line. A few customers still without power. Here is a link that might be useful: 11/4/11: 266 CT customers still without power...See MoreOT~ Nor'easter on the way!
Comments (15)Well we only got about four inches yesterday...I'm surprised because it was falling hard all day and I thought sure we'd have a foot by the end of the day. Now they say it all depends on how the front gets to us whether we'll have just 4-7 inches or 18-24 inches. Tiffy, I'm with you. I'm so glad to see snow and I wouldn't mind at all if it stayed until March. I finally realized how good it is for plants here to have that snow cover/insulation-- and I didn't get to mulch this year either. There's a lot of people on wells around here (and a lot of farmers). Season-long snow is good prep for the growing season and full wells. (Plus...the temps are always relatively warmer when we have snow...to have it dry means the temps are really really cold!!) --And after last February, none of this weather we're getting in my area seems like much at all. Comments (8)listen nana ... if TC labs that grow hundreds of thousands of babes per year.. fail in their attempt to produce the thing... do you really think it will be easy to grow in your garden ... if i had a buck.. for every dog plant with a great name ... i would be a hundred'aire ... lol ... the pic/link you sent... makes it look like a GE with different heritage ... a plant with a giant white center ... DO YOU KNOW THE PROBLEMS SURROUNDING SUCCESS WITH GREAT EXPECTATIONS??? plants with large white centers are near terminal.. in all but the most perfect circumstances ... if you do understand this ... then you would hesitate ... i would not pay for it.. until i saw a successful one with my own eyes... and then i would probably trade for it.. for fear of losing money repeatedly ... like the 7 GE i have bought over the years ... good luck ken...See MoreNor'easter February 11 & 12, 2006
Comments (15)Carol, Our drive is a very steep incline about 150 yards long and facing northeast. If I don't get it down to the blacktop rapidly the warmth turns the snow into a glacier and it stays till spring. One year, we were away on vacation, and when we returned, we could not drive up it for over 3 months. Incidently, I do park at the bottom when snow is forcast. Just long work, not really hard, as I have a small plow on my garden tractor/mower. I'm way too old to shovel that stuff much any more. George...See Moremaire_cate
