I'm back!!! (off-topic)
Comments (5)I hope that the Club P Disney World 2010 event will draw some other pool builders from the forum. I'd love to meet some of you guys and girls, in person, in an element where you can just take your shoes off and enjoy each others company. Note to all builders, If you utilize the Polaris/Jandy product and save the points you'll never regret a Club P affair. I've been to a ton of them and have always had a fantastic time. No matter where we go we're in a great resort and treated like royalty. They spare no expense on the trip for their dealers. What I love is the fact that I get to ride locations I'd of never ridden in my life if I was footing the bill. See ya, Kelly...See More~I'm Going On A Cruise and I...
Comments (22)We took a Princess cruise and land tour several years ago. It was wonderful. We got a room with a balcony on the top deck so we could sit out there and look at all the sights without standing on deck being cold. We went in early May and the weather was not all that bad.....in fact, no mosquitos and very little rain. It was great to wrap up in blankets and call room service for coffee. We loved staying at one of the Princess Hotels in Denali and took the bus trip. Excellent! The train ride to Denali was OK but we took the bus back to Anchorage and enjoyed it much more. Our very favorite side trip was outside Skagway on the bus tour to the Yukon. There was also a train trip but the bus ride was a great experience. We got to stop along the way if there was something interesting to see.....like a big wolf near the side of the road. The guide was really a lot of fun and knew the history of the Yukon gold rush. We also stopped for lunch at a museum/gift shop. I bought the book Alaska by James Michener there and re read it. I would suggest you read it on your trip. We opted not to have scheduled meal times and that worked out very well. We met some people who were from a tiny town here in California where my maternal grandmother was born. Small world. We took the trip to Mendenhall Glacier outside of Juneau. Take lots of pictures and keep a journal so you can share your experiences with us when you return. Have a wonderful trip!...See MoreAnalyze these pictures (piggy- backing off of Mrs. Pete)
Comments (12)In all fairness, I didn't do this first: Someone else did it some months ago. I hope you get as much out of your answers as I did. On with the show: Overall look is traditional in a very "today" way and neutral with a big emphasis on white; when wood is present, it's dark and rustic. The wood is repeated on the floor in every picture. Even the lighting is neutral. No pops of significant color. Simple cabinetry, lots of Shaker -- an island is a must. Traditional uppers with lots of glass fronts. No open shelving (well, it's poking out of the edge of one photo, but it doesn't seem to be a major player). Most of these kitchens seem to be larger than average. These kitchens seem to be their own separate rooms (not open to family rooms, for example). I see seating in most of the photographs. Accents are stainless steel (appliances, hardware, some lighting). Cup pulls instead of knobs or handles. Backsplashes tend to blend in rather than stand out. Lots of pendant lighting. The refrigerator seems to be invisible....See MoreFeatured Topics and All Topics
Comments (12)^^^Bingo, oakley - you said exactly what;s on my mind. I feel a bit 'selfish' about it as well but there it is. The sense of 'privacy' within our small conversation community is disappearing and of course I know that was a very false sense of security even before Houzz - we were open to unknown lurkers forever. The cross posting that includes the conversation forum has made us more visible to people that never knew we existed before - which would not always be a bad thing except..... because we have Decorating in our forum name, people think this is just yet another place to ask about drapes or paint color. And yet I find it perfectly ok when familiar names pop in with a question about drapes or paint color of furniture arranging. That's not a particularly flattering admission on my part so think of me what you will. localeater I too have some pending decorating posts to make and planned to ask here when I'm ready. I'll probably also post on the 'real' decorating side but as a separate, not cross post. It will mean following 2 threads but since I don't expect either one to become a hundreds+ topic, I'll deal with it. 3katz that's a great way of putting it - distracting nuisance - and again it's because we have Decorating in our forum title and new people don't know the basis for this forum....See Moremamapinky0
