It might be just a matter of whether you like the oversize look, like in Jay's photo. OP: Do you share the bed? Are the two of you always fighting over the covers? Then maybe bigger is better. BUT--the flip side: In the winter months, I have a duvet that covers the side pieces of the bed, and I thought that would be good -- extra "blanketing"=extra warmth. Its a duvet for a smaller-size comforter. But it really does tend to overwhelm me, and the look of the bed. It's flannel, so I get overheated with that much more fabric. Also, it is a BEAR to shake that duvet out in the morning and get the inside comforter's bunched-up parts (on the sides) to get back to where they're supposed to be. There are devices to keep the corners in place (inside laces, velcro, inside buttons, et.), but not so much for the sides. The full-size duvet, for me, verges on the unmanageable to get it back in place, flat, to make the bed look nice again. (It also doesn't help that I have a ceiling fan above the bed--I've bumped it a few times!) So unless your husband/significant other usually helps you make the bed in the morning, that'd be something to think about. I think you have a lovely bed, beautiful wood, and I would want to see a bit of the side rails.

Aerobeds are awesome. I sleep great on them. We have three (2 queens and a twin). I understand the problem of getting off of them when they are low to the ground, but the problem with the higher ones is that you can't sleep very close to the edge or you roll off--because the nearest solid surface is so far away. This doesn't leave a lot of sleeping space. For this reason, unless we are sleeping alone on an Aerobed, the lower ones are better except for those few moments (per use) when you are getting up. Our family thinks that the many hours of sleeping are more important than those few moments spent getting off the bed.

I like all of your upholstered choices shown. I think they will work nicely with your desk and do have an elegant feel, although I've always been partial to iron beds. If you're still looking at iron beds I can recommend Charles P Rogers. Great customer service and my daybed is high quality with a beautiful hand painted finish, much like the antique iron bed I have in DD"s room. I had a Wesley Allen and have seen RH beds - all nice but they don't seem to be as heavy and sturdy as my Charles P Rogers bed. Another iron bed company I'm interested in is Brass Beds of Virginia but I haven't seen those in person.

Annette, husbands can be so inconvenient for decorating at times, can't they! Moderntropicalglam, the paint can is so old I can't really make out the color. Going by the paint used in rest of house, I am going to deduce this is a benjamin Moore CC (designer classics) collection and of those colors I think it looks like Prairie Lily. Also to you and holly, thanks for saying I'm not fluffy but it's ok! I'm pretty fine being on the fluffy side and likely have chosen photos you've seen as carefully as any gal on a dating website.
