What is the best kind of blind or curtain for these windows? Help!

This is a home I have just purchased. I would like to know is it best to do a blind or curtain? I love the look of blinds but I do not want to damage the wood trim. I do have a bit of a modern/Scandinavian style so that is the design avenue I will be looking to take.

Any advice is great.

I would go for curtains. It will help soften the windows and the dark trim.

The smaller decorative windows shouldn't be covered at all. They're beautiful. For the center windows and the larger window on the side wall, I'd mount a decorative rod on the wall above them close to ceiling height with drapery panels on each side (on rings maybe?) that can be closed for privacy or left open for light and to show the nice wood trim.

Definitely some sort of shade on the windows. But not inside mount. The windows are set fairly low on the wall, so to lengthen the wall, I'd mount the shades much higher up, and maybe use one shade for every two windows. And paint the white trim the same color as the walls--right now the contrast is not a good look. Here are some examples of what you could do:

I would do some blinds on the bottom and leave the arch since this is a play room make sure the blinds have no cords.

An interior mounted shade or blind is a good idea. When you add the drapes, extend the rod at least a foot on each side so you have room for the drapes to hang without interfering with the window. That will also make the window appear larger. Even though the drapes won't be closed, they need to look full enough to cover the window.
