Remodeling Home Decorating Design Dilemma

Inside mount blinds and what kind of curtains or window decor?

We have dry wall returns, so no trim around windows. I’m thinking maybe we should get inside mount blinds and then get black industrial rod to put as close to the ceiling as possible and some curtains maybe? Not sure what would look best! Need opinions! We’re getting vinyl plank flooring installed in the next few weeks! Excuse the “unfinished” look of everything we’re still in the process of remodeling! The only thing permanent are the couch, loveseat, and coffee table!

An interior mounted shade or blind is a good idea. When you add the drapes, extend the rod at least a foot on each side so you have room for the drapes to hang without interfering with the window. That will also make the window appear larger. Even though the drapes won't be closed, they need to look full enough to cover the window.

What do you want from the blinds? If heat and UV control and daytime privacy I would do soalr dhades they also allow you to keep the view. Then add the drpes for nighttime privacy .BTW the drapes need to be at least 2.5 x the width of the rod you choose .

To answer your question regarding mixing window treatments..Yes, absolutely you can mix curtain styles and unify the look with using same fabric or shape. Is this your home? I might suggest painting the window molding white to not attract so much attention to all the windows. I think an attractive solution to the quarter round windows is to mount an upholstered valance/lambrequin on the top portion of window giving the window shape a overall rectangle appearance. It is a DIY project that is relatively simple. You could choose a bold stripe or print and drapery panels in a coordinating solid for your other windows. I like the color of the ones pictured. I think your drapery rod height is fine. It is really a cute place. Good luck.

The smaller decorative windows shouldn't be covered at all. They're beautiful. For the center windows and the larger window on the side wall, I'd mount a decorative rod on the wall above them close to ceiling height with drapery panels on each side (on rings maybe?) that can be closed for privacy or left open for light and to show the nice wood trim.

Hey There: Yes, you can for sure use different window treatment styles for different rooms. First decide what function you want from the shade in every room - do you want black out in the bedrooms or is light filtering ok? How about the living room or you doors? Is there room for panel blinds? Do you have trim around the windows that you don't want to cover and that require an inside mount installation? @chispa we don't do drapes but we motorize or blinds and shades.
