Planting forced hyacinth bulbs

Atharaenea

My husband bought a hyacinth bulb in a vase for me. It has roots reaching into the water, and has put out leafs and a couple flowers. I want to plant it so it won't die, since I know rooting in water isn't great for a plant (which my husband didn't know). I read something that said they won't survive after being forced in water... is that true? Is there anything I can do to save it?
