I think that greige tone is way too blue gray. I don't see much beige. I have revere pewter in my house, it definitely looks more beige, but in some lighting it pulls more gray.

Sometimes trying to use cool tones in a home with more warm, traditional colors can be a bit nerve wracking, but mixing cool and warm tones certainly can be done beautifully. I do agree that the greige does look more blue grey, at least in that photo, but it's alright to have cool toned walls if you tie it in using furniture and accents of warmth like gold and wood to make it more contemporary.

Here's a room with warm toned floors and everything else cool toned, but you can see that they bring in warm tones a little here or there, like in the legs of the barstool.

Firstly, I feel at the loss when it comes to choosing grays so we're trying out a few samples. Thank you for letting me know it looks blue-gray, sometimes I just can't see it.

Anyway, wow! Such a relief to hear it's not unheard of to mix warm and cool tones. I would absolutely love to do what your second photo showed (mainly cool furniture/decor with hints of warm). It's actually very similar to the style and feel of what I'm trying to achieve too, coincidentally.

Any cool grays you can suggest?

What is the color you sampled? Brand, name, number?

I'm sorry to disagree but those tiles are very dominating. Can you please send us pictures of your furniture in each room?

I also love that orange in the entry foyer! There are shades of gray that would work well with that but not light grays.

Perhaps you could take the eye away from those tiles with area rugs but we need to see your furniture, etc.

Here's added photos. We've moved in really recently and right now the furniture is a hodge-podge of both of our apartment's furniture and hand me downs from family. We're in the process of making the home our own and have already down some bigger changes to the bedrooms but the living space looks pretty much exactly how it did the first day we moved in!

I want to focus on painting walls first and then slowly start decorating according to my style.

Open space area also allows for our future dining room. There is a window behind me to allow some light. Also the same paint samples we liked are in the background.

Kitchen in the background + ikea table for casual eating. Really want to replace this...

Living room were we spend most of our time.

Living room in front leads to patio, yard, and lake view. It's a good source of light. Possible make this into french doors in the near future.

We are 10000% going to add rugs to help obscure the tile flooring. Rugs under formal dining table, living room area, and casual eating area. Also!! This photo of our laundry room which the previous owners painted gray so you can see how gray looks like with these tiles.

Keep the orange, I love it, it’s different, fun and special. Just make sure you furnish the area in a special way.

As for wall paint: B.M. Ancient Oak looks great with orange, and, ON MY MONITOR, looks like it will work with the floors (the light clouds).

As for Ancient Oaks, I looked at it and I really am not feeling the color too much. It seems a little too yellow-y for me. I just don't feel too happy with overly warm colors which is probably why I've been struggling with this home so much, haha.

Ooh! I did forgot and should have posted earlier, but I was thinking of during the living room wall into an accent wall. I don't mind doing something sort of fun or different.

The previous owners made this the accent wall and went with a shade lighter so we're considering keeping it an accent wall. If I choose this I might just do a shade lighter or darker of my paint choice.

OR!

Make this accent wall, on the wall with the door leading to patio. We are planning to swap out curtains and do a french door on that wall so it might make those white doors pop. Kinda of leaning towards this if we go with a 'stronger' color'

Which wall is better for the accent wall? Or do neither work well?

We were thinking of something like the color of the cabinets in this photo. Too intense? Feel free to suggest other colors.

No encouragement for the accent wall from me. Sorry. :) Edit and simplify is my mantra. The tile has a lot of movement and color; I'd be compelled to dial that down in the space by using, one, really good color everywhere in the main/open areas. And I agree the orange in the entry is kinda fun.

I'm not voting for an accent wall either................but I would like to see orange accents throughout to connect to the entry wall as it is very visible from the adjoining areas, correct? Pillows? area rug? curtains? Go there for your orange accents.

Are you asking about the dark blue/gray color under the island? I think that color would work well with the orange and the neutral of Balboa Mist.

Oof, I /wish/ I could do another color for the cabinet my kitchen. Sadly, we've got too many renovations to go through and that is not on the docket for now.

Also, definitely keeping the orange entry way. My husband didn't like it but I loved it (favorite color on top of the fact it's so fun and different) so I will be decorating it up. Maybe in the future I'll post pics. x)

I would encourage you to fall in LOVE with either an area rug with some of that orange in it or a large painting with orange in it for the biggest wall. That will become the inspiration for your room and everything will start falling into place.............

Slight update here! Wanted to show the after pics of our wall for those who are curious with what we ended up doing.

Tried the Balboa Mist on a wall and loved it so much! It worked well all times throughout the day so last week we went ahead and painting the front room and living room. Here's a few pics!

The place looks so much brighter and more modern already. It's primed for the boho-modern style I want to go for.

I was looking for hints of peach/pink now that you mention it! It might just be the lack of furniture right now since there's nothing to really draw color from but the color just looks like a true light gray in real life. =)

Love your vibrant entrance with the orange here as well, just make sure to have a sample created with the paint code you'll need if you ever need to cover over the inevitable scuffs and chips that entryways become notorious for. Chip off a discreet sample and have your home center match. Test your sample to cover the patch and confirm it can work for your future needs. Cheers!
