What to do with weird corner in living room

Hello! I am trying to figure out what to do with the corner space between 2 couches in my living room. The room is small and the space doesnt fit a side table well Since the couches are too close together. The area is roughly 44”x48”. Any Ideas would be great!

Just a floor lamp (and nothing else), pulled forward from the corner, would be good there. Useful, decorative, and would give some height and breathing room in that spot.

Are you sure the area is 44x48 inches? And if so, that is plenty of room for an end table with a lamp on it. I have a large end table and it is only 24x24 inches.

You might want to repost on the discussion side...you'll get more responses. I'd tile or brick or stone the walls behind the fireplace and then cap it with a mantel. It will make it safer too as stoves should be surrounded with non combustible materials.

I just kind of went thru a similar scenario with our family room, which had to be updated as a result of the kitchen reno. All the furniture is beiges & greys, tone on tone. I kind of resisted the tone on tone color palette, feeling very perplexed about how to introduce color. I did it with accessories. Just a splash of color here & there. Olychick's picture is a great example, 4 pillows & some flowers. Everything else is neutral. Also, different textures will add as much interest as those splashes of color. You've got a great start with those pillows. I love the pattern & texture. Also, you have a beautiful rug & console. Edit: you leather looks blue on my moniter but I see it is gray so I edited my post regarding a blue chair. Blue or the beige in your rug will look great. Yes you can have a nice house with kids but IMO you have too much stuff in a tiny room so my suggestion is move out everything then just put back what you absolutely need all the tables , ottomans , kids toys all need to go . If the kids have to have some stuff in there it needs to be put away at night for adult space, That will need to be a cabinet under the TV that can hold toys and BTW the TV needs to much lower. The kids table goes in the kitchen or in her room.I see no open corner in that space and IMO the sofa table is just collecting stuff so take it away. I do this with my clients all the time once you only have what you need in that space it will look better function better and be easier to keep clean and tidy.

IMO a sectional in your space is the wrong choice. I actually love the sofa and the 2 chairs you have in that space. Setionals are IMO the most expensive way to get the most uncomfortable seats. Arm rests = comfort and a sectional at best has 2 no matter how many seats . So everyone else is sitting just like they do on the middle seat on a sofa the seat no one wants.

If you feel you need an end table for putting down drinks, books, etc., get a round one and move it close enough between the sofas so it can be reached. (You can probably find one in a thrift shop or on Craigslist and paint it white or an accent color.) Other than that, a lovely floor lamp in the corner would light up that corner.

Not every empty space in a room needs to be filled, so feel free to remove the little shelf-y piece, which doesn't add function or interest to the corner.

Thanks all for your input! Graywings yes, I can fit a table in the space but was worried it would be too crowded since the couches are so close together. I love the idea of a floor lamp or rounded table with lamp. It is a bit dark in that corner. And yes I would move the piece that is currently there as it does not work no matter which way I go.

Move one of the end tables to that corner. TWo for on use for drink setting and reading lamp. Also, you end up with more room where they were at the other ends.

Here's a beautiful white lamp that would look lovely in a corner, assuming you don't want to do a table.

You could put a huge side table and a nice large lamp for sure in that space that little shelf thing needs a new home.

Put the end table at the end of the couch in that corner with a lamp on it.

Put the floor lamp next to the sofa where the table was.
