Any chance for these Italian Cypress?

Eden Harris

Location: Tidewater, Virginia (Zone 8)

We planted nine Italian Cypresses last April - two in large containers and seven directly in the ground - and all were doing wonderfully until a serious cold snap in January left them covered in snow and then exposed to freezing temperatures for more than a week. Since then, every single one of them have turned brown and are dropping needles from the bottom. The tops still have new growth and we have ruled out any obvious diseases but are wondering if the trees are beyond saving. Soil is damp, not wet or dry. Trees were planted in a 50/50 mix of topsoil blend/sand and mulched in a 'doughnut' shape.
