White painted cedar beams - no way!
Comments (9)We had similar beams in our last house that had been painted white. There would have been no way beyond wrapping them in wood that they could be changed. The cedar beams were so porous that removal of the paint would have been next to impossible (you can't exactly sandblast when they are attached to the ceiling nor would you want to in the house.) We opted for a stained fireplace mantle and large interior doors to bring more wood in as opposed to adding it back to the ceiling. The person who bought that house from us removed all the decorative beams and only left the big support one in the middle of the room and it really made the high ceiling look even higher....See MoreTo paint or not paint...the beams
Comments (20)Well, we haven't bought furniture or rugs for this house just yet so i agree with you on the couch placement;) We are not painting the brick just the walls and ceiling a lighter color (baby fawn). The beams are not real they are panels covering joists that's why we were considering painting them. The room also doesn't have a lot of natural light so lightening up the place is something i am also interested in doing....See Morebasement ceiling/ painted beams
Comments (2)It doesnt look like you primed it with a good sealing primer, before painting. I agree, it does not look good. Also cheap paint probably was not the way to go....See MoreBenjamin Moore tudor brown or other to paint plaster beams "wood"
Comments (3)@Beverly Thank you so much! I will ask the painter if he could dry brush on a different color after the base coat. What sheen do you recommend?...See MoreTheresa
