I also love the original bath (black/white) and what looks to be the original tile floor in the third floor bath. Your stone wall and pillars are wonderful, too. My husband and I painted our whole house with Home Depot Behr Ultra Scuff Defense Stain Blocking paint and primer; flat for walls and ceilings, and satin for doors and moldings. We used fine quality paint brushes and rollers. The paint handled beautifully and is quite durable and looks great. We took our time, lightly sanded all doors and moldings first, washed and rinsed all walls and ceilings prior to painting. We did all the correct prep work. I even got a 10% military discount ( I am a retired Air Force Captain). Our house looks great! I have used BM and SW in past homes I lived in. BEHR is just as good. I painted my front door about 10 years ago, also with BEHR and it looks as good as the day I painted it. We since replaced our front door with a high end fiberglass door, and plan to paint it with BEHR when the pollen dies down in the air. I can also assure you that there is no professional painter that would have ever taken the time to do all the prep work my husband and I did prior to painting. We are semi retired and have the luxury to take the time to do a great paint job! I have read countless Houzz threads on botched professional paint jobs in expensive homes. As my Dad always says: if you want the job done right, do it yourself.

So many great ideas! I would leave the beams and Sea Salt is gorgeous but try it out in your space since it reads green, blue, or grey depending on lighting. I loved it in a bathroom but it went an awful shade in a master bedroom. Tryout samples in your space and if Sea Salt isn’t what you want talk to the Sherwin Williams person and tell them exactly what you like and don’t like about it, ie it went too green, too muddy, too dim and the more information you give them they can point you in the direction of the perfect color. My Sherwin Williams has been awesome for nailing it every time, including on Sea Salt for the bathroom.

I usually have an 'each their own' perspective, but when I saw this, it saddened me. All that beautiful architecture molested by the idea of renewing and lightening something up. I totally understand the need to make houses more efficient, but why try to make a tudor what it's not... sell it and buy a different house! That original brick work had it's own natural colors and was beautiful! So was the diamond lead glass windows in the front that were not spared! I only hope as Debbie Downer mentioned that the appropriate methods were used because masonry is meant to breath. Liberties of paint shouldn't give the assurance of improvement. I feel a loss of culture and character when I see all these beautiful thing that lasted the test of time, covered up. It's like people who paint over the amazing grain patterns of non-wormy, American chestnut trim to modernize the interior.
