Has anyone ever stole fruit from your fruit tree?
Comments (23)I see my neighbor stealing some of the raspberries between the houses (kind of a shared spot). Not a big deal, as I steal some beans on my side of the fence, and she also gives me some food as well. I have gotten her addicted to blackberries! I do grow more plants then just fruit - like castor beans, and I had to chase down some teens who a bunch. I managed to track them down - they thought it was weed, and man would they have gotten a shock when they smoked it....... I had to tell them what it was. OF course they didnt believe me. I had to use one of their phones to show them the differences. Ive had cops stop and ask what it was as well....See MoreChe Fruit Tree Sources
Comments (29)Tony, this is Lisa-Gemini. I'm sorry I didn't see your post until now. The Che is still dropping its fruit after all these years. I never did buy the male one. The tree is about 12' tall. It keeps sending up long shoots in all directions, which I mostly cut, the branches I can reach, anyways. I'm planning on moving sometime in the future and I just got lazy and gave up on the tree. I think it's worth it to buy the male to pollinate the female, because is very prolific, healthy and easy to manage. I hope you read this post....See MoreAnyone bought online trees from arbor day foundation?
Comments (31)" I got a Dawn Redwood from them in the Spring of '10. It was about a foot tall and the top half died. Nonetheless the tree survived and is approximately 19' tall and looks great. I'm not sure I'd go back and buy from them again though as I'd rather get a more advanced specimen than what they send." Aw man, no pictures?!?! Neat tree. What made you decide on it? My metasequoia came from them a decade ago. Best $10 I ever spent. Honestly for these fast growing trees I dunno if I would risk the transplant trouble and shock of buying a 20 gallon tree. Musser sold me 100 of them a few years back. All were just slightly larger than my Arbor Day single tree and every one of em leafed out. For fast growing easy transplant species with a good story Arbor Day is really ok. Dollar for dollar they MIGHT even compete with for profit nurseries. You just have to have realistic expectations what $10 is going to get you. And yes, be aware big government may help fund the department of conservation trees I have ordered by the bundle....See MoreAnyone (No.Ca.) got tomatoes yet?
Comments (16)I thought tomatoes were late this summer, too, but I also picked more later varieties and no cherries this year. In San Bruno, the first tomato we had was in mid-July, it was a Muscebec. Then, to my surprise, the Black Krims kicked in in full force and I have been eating a few of those every day for the last couple weeks. Maulee's Early and Cuostralee started a little after that. I still had nothing ripe from Omar's Lebanese or German Striped. I had plenty of zucchinis and they started much earlier. Eggplants are almost ready, maybe a week or two more. This year, we built raised beds and filled it with SFG mix. Also, there wre several heat waves in early spring. So, I thought things were going to kick in early. Now that they started, though, there is no shortage of tomatoes....See Moreponcirusguy6b452xx
