Urine Odor in Bathroom
Comments (12)Cleaning a bathroom sometimes means removing urine odor from tile and grout. To do this in an efficient manner means getting to the root of the problem.. The newest technology for cleaning bathroom tiles uses peroxide and detergents to penetrate the soiled area and deactivate the odor. Simply spray a product like PAWS - Pet Accident Washup Solution on the area, allow to sit for 10 minutes and then wipe clean. Baking soda will also neutralize the smell of urine from in between your bathroom tiles. Make a paste of baking soda and water and clean with a toothbrush. Let site for about 30 minutes and wipe with a damp sponge. If the odor persists, repeat until the odor is gone. Comments (13)I was having the same smell in this rental I moved into last March. Just so happens, in one of the Spring issues of a magazine-a professional plumber had an answer to this problem. He said often the sewer gas will not escape & I did what he suggested-and I still do it 2x a month. NO more odor! In every drain in your home..kitchen, bath, laundry...run hot water in the sinks & tubs for 1 minute. Flush all toilets. (Are you ready for this?) Measure 2 TBS of vegetable oil & dump it down all of the drains & let it set for 5 minutes or so before running water anywhere. I swear-the smell goes away within the hour. It creates (-for lack of a better word) a..skim covering over the drain holes & prevents the gases from coming up from the drain. Cheap way to solve the issue without a plumber. try it-can't hurt....See MoreOdor from bathroom whenever upstair neighbor takes a bath

Comments (8)I know I can do anything Ha Ha. I went totally plain with the upstairs kids' bathrooms with white subway tile, except I put a little bling in the niches. I did some interesting color tile in the master, but this 3/4 room is open to the main living area and I guess I'm just wondering if I should go bold or not. But Yes, I know I can do anything, that's the problem. If I do a colored or patterned tile, do you think that should only go on the back wall? If you are sitting on the toilet you'd be looking at that wall, and if at the sink that wall would reflect in the mirror. And then I could make the side walls simple white subway tile or larger format white tiles? I've got some samples coming. Maybe I'll wait a bit and post again when they arrive and I can put a few tile combos together....See MoreSuzieque
