Hotlogic Mini

Does anyone have one of these things? I've been doing some traveling lately and a friend thought it might be useful. What I'm looking for is recipes that work in the cooker, just not reheating leftovers or one of those frozen "TV" dinners. Preferably something that can be cooked just in the machine, no "saute this" or "brown that" first.

I tried with chicken breast, a bottled Alfredo sauce, precooked pasta, and some peas. Turned out pretty good for a "hotel room" meal.

Any ideas?

I had to google it. Never heard of it. You would think that they would provide more recipes than I found on their site.

You would be better off with a pressure cooker. Even the smallest Instant Pot, the 3 quart you could make a whole meal in and in much less time and with more options than the Hotlogic.

anything you could wrap in foil and keep refrigerated would work...if you have a means to keep it cold until cooked.
Things like cubed sirloin and some carrot sticks a sliced potato, chopped onion and maybe a few tomatoe slices and seasonings....wrap and cook slowly...for about an hour...I don't know what temp the thing cooks at.

Same thing might work with a chicken thigh, soma basamati rice ( because it cooks fairly quickly) again tomatoes for moisture, aromatics, like garlic, celery and peppers...salt and cook...

While I would agree there are probably better "mobile" cooking choices, someone gave it to me so I'm going to give it a shot. As I recall it heats to about 220 degrees and then somehow adjusts the temperature downward to keep the food warm. The chicken Alfredo (ala Prego) took about 2 hours. That was based on what the instructions said, not me temping the food. The chicken was actually well cooked.

What I was thinking about doing is prepping some meals and freezing them. Since most hotel fridges aren't that cold the meals will slowly thaw. I was thinking about throwing a timer in the mix so that the Hotlogic would come on about 3 in the afternoon, ready for a 6 p.m. or so dinner. I'm hoping that semi-frozen, inside of their insulated bag should be cold enough to retard bacteria growth...hopefully.

Any body know how much water/liquid uncooked pasta needs when it's cooked in the dish rather than separately?
