If you have some Play Dough, you could shmush it tightly around the candle and put it in a tall-ish glass.

I always have a few Yankee Candles on hand (the kind in the old-fashioned jar) - just about the safest way to use an open flame. I didn't get them for that reason, I got them because I like them, but they are practical, too. I wait for the two-for-the-price-of-one sales and stock up then.

Am also promising myself to get a couple of battery-operating lamps, but haven't done so yet!

I wish I could afford Yankee candles, Even if they are half price!! They're worth it though, they smell so good and last so long. Besides tea lights those big bulky candles in glass jars (Yankee and the candles that wish they were Yankee!!) Are the only ones I buy and I do have a bunch of them but theyre all scented and it can get overwhelming burning several in each room.

I inherited boxes upon boxes of the tall skinny old school candles so I don't want to waste the expensive ones if I can burn these safely. I think I found a way to do just that!!

Fill a bowl, jar, whatever with salt or sand and stick the candle down in there. So far so good. Sturdy and it won't drip all over the table, just the sand or salt around it!

Lost power and water at 2pm Fri. In a completely unexpected turn of events it just came back on at 5am. What a pleasant surprise!!! If I had rowdy kids or a big clumsy dog I wouldn't want to leave one in the pic alone on the coffee table but in my opinion it is sturdy (sturdier depending on size and shape of candle as well as container and depth of sand) and could be made super cute if you take the time to match candle and container. Tested and approved!
