Comments (25)punk...well, you don't have to twist my arm about YS'ing or GS'ing either! My car doesn't have a bit of trouble stopping at those yard signs! The big church one we went to last Fri., I limited myself but scored!...candlestick (which I know now I can't force myself to paint white! It's solid walnut)...so will use as is! LOL! Let's see...got sugar & creamer(Metlox) with green ivy on it, brass little mouse with curved tail in the air (he called to me), box of used craft paints & glitters, 3 hardcover pic books, box of photo cards, 3 ft. turned wood column ($4, believe it or not!)...ahhhh, I could go on & on! I'm in the garden mode, too, right now & lovin' it! But I'll be using some of this good "stuff" yet on this forum! So don't forget to pick me up on that bus! I'll share! LOL! Comments (10)Fun2b, I could actually return this one and get two matching hurricanes exactly like this except 16" high---- even taller than this one, where on earth will I put them? I guess I could use them on the dining table if all the leaves were in the table, and put them where they don't block the line of sight between any two people across from each other. They are very casual though, and obviously can't be used on the table with silver, or on the sideboard which has a lot of silver---- coffee and tea service on a tray, Georgian candelabras, etc. I guess I could put that stuff away and do brass and gold accoutrements. It's funny that once you park silver hollowware in a room it seems to take over. I could find some small ornaments for it and forget the candle....See MorePlease no candles on this mantel
Comments (25)The fireplace has enough detail in the moulding on either side, and too little depth on the mantel itself, to warrant adding anything. I think it will only make the mantel area look more crowded and emphasize the lack of depth. I would add topiary or floor vases filled with tall greenery, branches, etc on either side of the mantel by the wall for softness. The other thing I would consider is antiquing the moulding a bit to warm it up and balance the darkness of the tv and marble. The antiquing will bring out all the lovely fluting and details on the moulding, which will negate the need for more visual accents....See MoreOakley
