So, I have a cactus that has the potential to grow to well over 80ft and out live me by well over 100 years??...you've gotta be pulling my leg for sure! I will keep this evil specimen confined in a small pot so it don't outgrow it's welcome! Apologies to those who ID'd it as Saguaro before....the only reason I was questioning its type was because I was surprised to have it grow from a seed mix bought here in the UK. For some reason I imagined they would be seeds from the small easy specimens to grow such as Mammillarias etc not a giant like this! Very likely within the next 30 years every variety of every grown fruit and vegetable will be able to be DNA matched (for a fee). At such a time we may also find out the true relationship between many similar appearing varieties and trace tomatoes back to a remote village in the Bolivian foothills. Until then people can speculate. I'm growing Aunt Rubys German Green and Cherokee Green yet I could never tell the difference between the two by looking at the fruit. When I tell a customer the variety name for a particular tomato they ask in amazement how I know and I usually tell them that I remember picking that specific tomato and in doing so I recalled the unique fruit appearance. Dispite growing over 200 heirloom varieties, by glancing up at the variety tag while picking fruits it is often easy to reidentify an heirloom. Its amazing how many customers will also attempt to ID a specific fruit and sometimes they are correct. Other times I'll just say "You're close but this is the twin sister to that one, *****".

Mrs. T, there are so many dahlias out there, and honestly, this one you have fallen in love with could be one of many named varieties, or a no-name dutch type sold in random packs. May I suggest you look at what is offered currently by dahlia vendors, and choose several that appeal to you? Here is a preliminary search I started for you, based on the colors 'pink' & 'dark pink,' and the forms 'informal decorative' & 'waterlily' in the sizes 'small' & 'mini.' the DahliaAddict site has lots of resources, including this year's specialty vendors and search functions. Thank you all for your feedback and comments. As mentioned by Ash, I run the website Succulents and Sunshine (www.succulentsandsunshine.com). I frequently recommend people visit the forum to get IDs for succulents, but wanted a go to person that would be willing to help on a more regular basis. I've followed the forum for quite a while and have loved it! Definitely a lot of great people and resources here. I wish I had more time to spend here, but running a business and taking care of a 3 yr old and 1 yr old keeps me a bit busy :) Rachel and Karen -- I am sorry you were bothered by the email about religion. I believe it was around Easter? I rarely share anything of the sort and just stick to succulents. I never intended to be preachy or to bother anyone by it, but I definitely appreciate your feedback!
