Some seedling photos
Comments (12)Thanks! As for unique....the more seeds you sow and grow, the more odd or unusual seedlings pop up. I still don't have a single adenium with variegated leaves, though. Most times, out of a single packet of maybe 12 to 15 obesum seeds, even if 8 or 10 germinate and grow....2 or 3 are very different from their siblings. Those super compact arabicums, like Head Explodes, Diamond Scintillation, Gold Bracelet, etc., are another story entirely. They're special arabicum/Thai soco hybrids specifically bred to stay short and wide....and in many cases they branch like crazy from a very early age--like a month or so! Even still, there is some variation within specific types (as can be expected)....for instance, out of 4 seedlings (from 5 seeds) of arabicum Diamond Scintillation, three look virtually identical except for size differences, and then there's this one in the photo--it has two main stems. These make very special plants when they're older--sort of like twins sharing a caudex....See MoreA few seedling photos
Comments (7)Really nice seedlings. Love the color on the All Fired Up seedlings and the first one should definitely be a keeper if it also has good stats. Great edge on the Druid's Chant seedling. The color on the Fooled Me seedlings is surprising. That's one of the fun things about hybridizing-the surprises! Val...See MoreA seedling photo

Comments (28)So glad to see this thread, even years later! I just found some passionflower seedlings in one of my planter boxes today hiding under a marigold. I'd only tried germinating seeds from a Frederick and Tarminiana "bailadores," neither of which had sprouted. I must've dumped them out into this planter and forgotten about it. I was pretty sure the seedlings did not look like a p. edulis, which would leave the 'bailadores." Thanks to the photo above, I have positively ID'd it. I'm very excited about this, as I've been trying to root cuttings of bailadores without success. Now i have several seedlings! Yay!...See Moreisde02(zone5b)
