A few questions about shrubs
Comments (1)boy you have been a busy little poster.. lol .. again.. none of these EVER need fertilization .... so dont waste any further money in that regard .. if you are concerned with the pH ... have a soil test done ... which might be hard now that you amended the beegeebees out of the soil ... and find out EXACTLY what your pH is.. and then act accordingly ... PROPER watering is imperative.. i think i covered that in one of your other posts ... good luck ken...See MorePeople in 9b/So Cal-- I have a few questions about your crassulas
Comments (25)Daisy, First, so happy to hear from you and your experiences! So your small m comment got me looking and it seems like American editors and rulebooks differ on the usage of small m from one to another. Some say it applies to every mediterranean climate outside the Mediterranean Sea area, and some say it refers to anything landlocked with that climate. Still others disagree and say if your climate is based on that sea then you can use the capital whereas everyone else must use a lowercase m. Just an interesting aside I had never considered before. Thank you! Thank you for the suggestions! I have not seen that book before and I am going to have to check it out. There is another book I want to interlibrary loan to see if it is worth purchasing called "Gardening in the Middle East." I fear it may have more to do with the desert, so I want to look at it first. Oh, the hail. Yes, that happens in NW Jordan as well. This information has given me some great direction. I will be taking a look! Julianna...See MoreA few questions about sweet potatoes........
Comments (1)Hi dancinglemons, Welcome to the OK Forum. We always enjoy having visitors from other areas. I believe you can grow sweet potatoes under the bean trellis as long as they are getting either some direct sunlight for a few hours a day or dappled shade for the whole day. If the crookneck squash produced well there, then I believe the sweet potatoes would produce equally well. I have grown sweet potatoes on the eastern side of a large pecan tree where they received direct sun from sunup until about noon. From noon on, some of them were in pretty heavy shade and others were in dappled shade and they all produced just fine. I am not sure that partial shade would work for anyone in a cooler part of the country, but with the intense heat and sunlight found in your and our parts of zone 7, I think partial shade actually gives your plants an advantage because it gives them a bit of a break from the sun and heat. Folks in zone 7 in Oregon, for example, might not have good results with part shade because even though they're in zone 7, their conditions can be quite different from what we southerners have in zone 7. Hope this helps, Dawn...See MorePaging Gizmonike - a few questions about your kitchen, please
