I would try opening the front cover of the unit where the air filter is and make sure it is clean. You should see a temperature sensor mounted on the front of the evaporator coil behind the air filter. Try moving that sensor to the front of the plastic grill the covers the evaporator ( so the sensor will be on the outside of the unit). By moving the sensor that may get a better reading of room temp and extend the run times. I would also suggest to try running different fan speeds after relocating the sensor and see how that works.

Thanks for the responses! I was actually thinking about a Formica finish called "Black Walnut Timber," but I'm just not sure if it would make the area look smaller than it is. I haven't considered wood because I always thought it was more expensive. But maybe I should look into it. I'm not sure about the butcher block because there are very warm (kind of golden) colors in the room with the floor and the paint... But in any case, thanks for the great suggestions!

It seems as though your rug choice, furniture stain color and fabric on the guest chairs are all warm. I think a grey would be a nice choice, but not sure about the Pier. I would need to see it next to the rug and furniture, as it might read a bit cold and dark with all the other heavy colors in the room. Sorry, I don't see the Juniper Ash at all. The Wasabi has a real yellow green undertone to me, not sure I see that with all the reds in the room. Your choice, of course, but I don't see sheers in the office. I would think panels alone, or perhaps matchstick or woven wood roman shades, would be a nice look. You didn't tell us what the flooring is, so I am thinking it might be wood. That matters in the color choice as well.

I'm not going to comment on the how the color works. But as someone who has recently been shopping for a new computer/desk chair myself, I hope this is one you can try out in person to first make sure it's comfortable for hours of sitting, that it supports your back properly, and that it has a decent range of adjustments. I'm in the process of returning a chair to a local store, that is great to sit in but has weird, uncomfortable arm rests that can't be adjusted to a comfortable position for mouse and keyboard use.
