"Office" versus "gaming" chair for home office
I am looking to upgrade the office chair in my den (home office) at home. I am not enthralled with traditional leather chairs as they look old fashioned, out of date, and would appear to belong to a generation that I am not part of.
Rather, I am intrigued by the "gaming chairs" that I have seen advertised, in particular the one below. I am wondering folks can offer comments about whether or not this would be a good match for my home office. (I can post pictures of my home office if need be, but for privacy would prefer not to).
The colors in my home office are dark red. The desk, shelves, and cabinets of my home office are all a black cherry stained finish (very dark red). The carpet is a neutral color and the walls are also neutral (not white) walls. The doors of my office also are a dark red and similar tones. I have three monitors on my desk, all black or silver. I would say overall that my office is very strongly a traditional office and definitely not a modern office. But, I am not a fan of traditional desk chairs.
I wish the particular chair was a dark red rather than bright red. I can also choose the black version as well, but I am intrigued by the red color.

Comments (18)We have a very flat dense oval fringed carpet with jute backing. Don't know the material but it has the smooth soft texture of an oriental. It is covering most of the hardwood floor, without a pad, and has been rolled on in our computer room for 12 years now without the slightest problem with the carpet or rollers. I am just finishing a remodel which includes an office area which is visible from the living room so I wanted a really nice looking office chair. I also wanted it to be functional - a chair without casters that can't roll easily doesn't work for me. The upholstered chairs shown also wouldn't work for me in terms of comfort as I wanted support in the appropriate places as well as the ability to adjust a chair in the manner that most high quality office chairs can. I wound up buying a chair from RFM Seating and I love it. I selected teal blue faux ostrich skin so it's functional as well as attractive as it complements the blue tones I have in my living room. The chairs all have options so that one can select depth and width of seat. There are a lot of styles - some more officey than others. Comments (11)@JustMe Here is a rough drawing with dimensions of the office. My desk is on the longest wall. The window at the bottom of the drawing. My desk is about 72" and I've been seriously thinking of getting a different wood desk top that is smaller at about 63" to fit on that wall space next to the door. Something like a mesquite desktop or something. My desk is a standing desk so I'll be keeping the black base. The reason why I didn't put my desk against the window is mainly because of the giant monitor that is on an arm that wouldn't let me look outside anyways but I'm open to options. I do really think that my desk is way to big though. Also, the closet(which is at the bottom left of the picture in case its hard to tell has built in bookshelves. Although shelve space is always good, I've been looking at tons of wall shelves to utilize the vertical space more. I also added some more offices I liked to my profile.
