We have never been offered a senior discount, but we have asked if they have one. They don't offer them freely you have to ask.

Must be a thing here as if you look old enough most places do not ask. If they ask it is a general question. "Does anyone want a senior discount?" The automatic giving has ticked a couple of people off but it makes it easier. One of the things I dislike is the places that card everyone no matter what their age.

I was so impressed at the grocery store yesterday. We had a basket pretty full. We were right behind our vehicle. I was in Sunny Bella chair holding on to the cart so it didn't roll off. Hubby was loading the bags in the side door. This very nice lady walked by looking at us and stopped and asked if she could please help us. I said it's OK my husband is loading them. She said yes but let me help you. How sweet was that! Poor hubby has been just slap worn out with all the moving and stuff and he was probably looking tired. I said well that helped restore my faith in humanity! There are some good friendly helpful people left!

As I aged, I had a tendency to look at people and think....I am old enough to be their mother, and now I look at people and think...I am old enough to be their grandmother. Of course, with kids...I am old enough to be their great grandmother.

I picked up a lot of pet food for the wildlife from the Houston Food Bank, who donates to rescues. It is mostly salvage and in among it is other things...like I got about 10 bottles of nail polish. I don't paint my nails and I keep forgetting to give it to my daughter. I came across it the other day when I was packing, and I painted the nail on my little finger....red...just to see how it looked. I can't tell you how many times I have glanced down at my hand since then, and been shocked, and thought, "I am bleeding! How did I do that." Now, that concerns me! Fortunately, then I remember I had painted that nail. I must really be losing it.

When i changed docs last fall, I checked out their age. didn't want one as old as I am, but still wanted one in maybe his/her 50s and one who dealt with a good number of older people. I found one like that and close to home.

I have no problem believing it's a true story. I can't tell you how often I've reached for the computer mouse to increase the type size on my TV screen!

I have been carded most of my adult life. When I was 18 I was embarrassed. In my 20s I was annoyed. During my 30s I was thrilled! In my early 40s it was back to being embarrassing. It only happened once but it was doosy. I was going trough a checkout at a grocery store. My purchase included a bottle of wine, and the elderly gentleman checker asked for my ID. I assumed it was an awkward attempt at flirting so I smiled at him and said "I don't think so". He loudly and sternly said "Young lady, I don't make the rules here and I like my job." I produced my ID, which he examined closely before ringing up my bottle of wine. By then everyone nearby was following this weird episode and snickering. They clearly had better eyesight than the old gentleman! He did apologize and said the store had a policy of checking everyone buying alcohol who looked like they might be 30 or less, so I guess it was a compliment of sorts but one I could have lived without! Since then, no one asks for my ID anymore. Now I miss it. Sigh...
