Wallpaper in a Boring Hallway: Yay or Nay?
Comments (19)I don't know what that is at the end of the hallway (first picture) but it's partly mirror. You can see the reflection of the light fixtures and some wallpaper at the top and the floor towards the bottom. Weird. I love wallpaper and glad to see it making a come-back. We have no hallways in our house but if we did, I wouldn't be opposed to wallpapering it. It would have to be a lighter color and more of a tone on tone. Love the grayish beige paper with the oak floor. Several years ago (2004) we redid our daughter's bedroom. One wall had wallpaper on it. The 70something year old texture guy said he could probably just texture over the wallpaper :o What??? After he inspected it he said not to bother trying to remove it, he could go over it. I don't know how much I had gotten off. Maybe all the top decorative layer (the easy part). Well he went right over it and NO one but NO one can tell there is wallpaper under that texture. No issues what so ever and it's been 12 years....See MoreLong Narrow Hallway Help
Comments (9)ditto on the runner that covers 3/4 of the length. a pattern that has 'stripes' going side to side will push the walls back. wide stripes work best. keep the bathroom door closed, paint it a strong color that goes with the runner, it will pull the end of the hall towards the viewer. with the door open you are making the 'tunnel' 6 feet longer. (this works on long narrow bathrooms too, where the tub is at the far end... a strong shower curtain pulls the far end towards you). don't hang things on the wall, you'll never be able to actually see the fronts, only the edges, which will make the space narrower....See MoreHallway rug advice please for long hall/entryway
Comments (7)and nothing in the hallway? I do feel I need the foot trafficked areas to have rugs to protect my floors. I like the idea of a wider rug in the entry area, but I still want a runner in the hall. I guess I’m just lost on how to approach mixing and matching rugs in a contiguous area....See MoreHow can I add interest to a long hallway
Comments (17)I think if you keep the frames all the same size with white matts then add your colorful photos and don’t get all stressed about the colors working.I agree 3 fixtures would be a good idea make sure they are LEDs in 4000K to keep the colors true....See Moresheloveslayouts
