How long should I wait to add fish?
Comments (2)I let my water sit a week (dissipating the chlorine), then add plants, then wait another week and add fish. It's always a good idea to quarantine both plants and fish ( q. time increased related to $ spent :) I have brought home snails and fish eggs on plants that I wasn't expecting. Set out a pail of pond water and let the plants sit in it a few days. But you've already done that by waiting to add the fish! With a new pond and a few new goldies, let it sit 2 weeks and then float the bag for 30 minutes and put them in. If you're talking expensive fish, QUARANTINE 2-3 weeks minimum. Lots of plants and you'll have a happy pond and happy fish, and you are right to keep the fish load low. Welcome to the addiction!...See MoreSuggestions for how to deal with a very long, narrow hallway?
Comments (9)I once had a very long, dark, narrow hallway I loved. Our first real home, half of a mission-style duplex in Hollywood. All bedrooms opened off it and had windows to the south, so THEY were beautifully sunny. It jogged at one end to the bath, so views toward both ends were of blank walls. We were such poor kids that I focused every cent on the rest of the unit and did absolutely nothing in the hall, literally the original bare bulb on the ceiling as the only detail. Not that I'm recommending that, but the cool quiet (wall-to-wall in this days) "minimalism" set off all the sunny prettily decorated other rooms extremely well and, not least vice versa. It made a pleasurable transition because it was so different, and I even sat down in there now and then just to enjoy its special quiet-far from the busy life everywhere else inside and outside on the street. All a way of leading up to the idea: could your hall be developed to serve as a wonderful complement to the rooms that open off it?...See MoreHow do I add interest to my foyer? Comments (9)Great ideas. I do like the idea of the wall niche. Thanks for posting the site. DH is going to love this. We just finished ripping down wallpaper and repainting the foyer. He'll be happy to know I now want him to cut a hole in the wall. I am having trouble posting pictures. Something is wrong with the port on my camera. When DH gets home I will see if he can get it to work....See MoreBoring hallway, what can i add to it?
Comments (18)12 inch might be a good plan, but you won't find many that have this width. I went though this..I mean through a research..I still didn't find anything personally satisfying..not that I delved into this research as deep as I can, but some preliminary research shows there are not many options I do remember Room and Board (if I'm not mistaken) have very slim consoles..if you're into very simple, modern, streamlined. They have it in many colors. These are cool..again, if one is into the aesthetic. One can always DIY or ask for customization though..say you find a piece that you can, potentially, make narrower.. In short, requires research. But yes, something slim, for sure. PS I love skylights too...See Moreleigh_c12
