How to plug holes in cabinet doors

susanamc

My kitchen cabinets are 35 years old. but in excellent condition. However, when I was young and foolish, I put colonial 3 inch center cabinet pulls in the center of the cabinet panels. I would like to switch out this hardware with more up to date hardwawre on the door corners, but do not know how to fix the existing screw holes in the panels. An Amish woodworker/cabinet maker tried wood plugs in a door over the stove, but they are too visible. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks in advance. Susan
