Bath Preview and Question About Wood Countertop and Mirror
Comments (9)Nice materials and finishes! That looks like its going to be a beautiful space. Please make sure to post pics when you're finished. I wish there was a longer shot of the vanity area. From the pics you show, I do feel like that mirror might not work as well as something else. I think that the color might not be so bad if the frame were thinner... but from the pics you show, that heavy, dark frame seems just SO much heavier and darker than everything else... it seems like it will overwhelm all else. The vanity is beautiful and personally I think I'd rather have the myrtle wood be the star... and that big fat heavy mirror frame seems like it's trying to steal all the attention right now. That said, it can probably be made to work, by balancing with other dark/heavy accessories. But the rest of the room seems to have a lighter, more airy and cheerful vibe going on, maybe a lighter mirror frame might be better. I'll also add that we have a big framed mirror over our master vanity, and as much as I love the deep storage drawers in the vanity, they're not quite as convenient as medicine cabinets. I sure like the look of a big mirror though! We made our frame from fairly thin strips of mahogany (which is what our vanity top is) and it was easy to do. I'm pretty sure you could have a carpenter make a narrower frame for you out of a lighter wood, and buy a mirror for it, for not much more than the PB mirror....See Morequestion about safely hanging mirror
Comments (4)As drywall guy mentioned, as long as it's fastened into studs, no worries. You dont want to rely on the counter for support. I always hold them up about 1/8" off of the counter so that it still appears to sit there. Screws would be better than nails when fastening. You could replace the existing nails with screws one at a time, or if it's solid, dont worry about it....See MoreQuestion about hanging pictures above bed
Comments (25)Ajsmama and Justgotta, me too. I live in earthquake country and when I saw "Question about hanging pictures above the bed" by Crashboombang -- well, LOL! I like the three pictures very much. It fills the wall in a pleasant way and I think incorporates the nightstands visually. Besides, in decorating remember the 3, 5, 7 rule! Do please be careful to hang them so if they fall they drop behind the headboard and not in front of it on your head! And please show us a picture of them after you hang them up....See MoreAnother question about vanity mirror placement
Comments (2)I worry about if it meets my need to see in it, and the other members of the house who would need to see themself in it. The outlets really should not be near the sink, so I would worry about that....See Moreuscpsycho
